can't complain about the price.

Posted Nov 23, 2014
Not a bad experience just the water was luke warm. The room was clean, and the building was clean also. It was also not a bad location. I would not take my kids there, but for just the wife and I it was a fun experience. (Nothing for kids to do close by) I really can't complain about the price. You get what you pay for.

Great hotel, great location, thin walls.

Posted Nov 17, 2014
Pros: Low price, kind employees, wine reception, clean rooms, comfortable bed.
Cons: Better towels, they were a bit stiff, and only two towels for two people, my husband was kind enough to use the hand towel to dry off with.
Location: Within walking distance to many attractions and BART.
If you are a light sleeper this may not be the best hotel for you. However, for our quick getaway given the low price, it was perfect. Upon check in we were greeted by a VERY friendly gentleman, our room was not ready but they held our luggage until our return several hours later. We enjoyed the afternoon wine reception. The following morning we were awoken by a small child jumping around the room above us, for about two hours, which is clearly poor parenting, not the hotels fault, but the thin walls did nothing to help this. We had a king room, which was spacious, clean and the bed was comfortable. At check out we encountered the only employee that could have been a bit more personable, but overall it was a great stay.

Wonderful Stay.

Pros: I particularly enjoyed the wine served during the nightly wine tasting event.
Location: The location of the hotel allowed me to see a part of the city I would have otherwise never explored.
Wonderful hotel in an excellent location. The hotel staff were very courteous and helpful.

Attentive service, cozy lobby

Posted Nov 12, 2014
I really liked the staff at the hotel. They were good at anticipating my needs and very friendly. I barley had to ask a question, they already knew what I was looking for ( whether it was the maid service, the door man, front desk, etc). The wine happy hour is a great touch and I liked the gentleman serving the wine. The hotel is "vintage" but so is everything else in this area. It seemed to be a good value. I found it to be pretty tranquil. Being a smaller hotel, it didnt have the huslte and bustle of a large hotel. The Internet speeds were adequate for simple browsing. The lobby is really nice. I sat in the lobby reading for a couple of hours and it was the perfect place to do so. Very comfortable chairs, fireplace, low key.

Beautiful, vintage hotel near Chinatown

Posted Nov 12, 2014
Pros: The location was amazing!
Cons: The room had a slight mildew smell, like the carpet had been cleaned recently and not dried properly. It was very faint and not bothersome.
Location: Chinatown is 2 blocks away. Uncle Vito's and Roxanne's Cafe 1 block away and the prices and food were unbeatable!
Such a beautiful hotel. Very charming. Very near great restaurants and 2 blocks from Chinatown. Extremely friendly and helpful staff!

Good for the price and location

If you are fussy about noise and like everything shinny and new dont stay here. If you are OK with things a little rustic, with character and charm this could be your place. The staff is fabulous and the location is convenient and safe. I would stay there again.
