location good but hotel not so much

hotel very mediocre furnishings in the lobby and rooms. the room we were in smelled horrible so much that we had to change rooms. Room rate was $250 plus $40 tax fee and they don't even have coffee for guests in the morning.

Very pleased with the location

Pros: We really like the location, easy to walk from. Two blocks from Chinatown!
Location: Great location, restraurant, Chinatown very close! You can get the cable car at the corner to pier 39!
It's an older hotel but very nice, and the rooms were very clean! The staff was very helpful and very eager to please us.

Decent place, but important caveats!!

Posted Sep 15, 2014
Pros: Charm I guess, wine receptions was decent.
Cons: Wireless is advertised but provided by some 3rd party system and our room it would connect, work for 30 seconds, then fail across multiple devices.
Location: Good location, a block or two off where you'd really want, of course up another monster hill, but considering all the hills we walked whats 1 more.

Nice Hotel close to Union Square

Nice hotel, close to trams, China Town and Union Square. The staff were very helpful and our room was kept very clean. Even received a bottle of free wine. The reception area is nice and welcoming. The only downside would be to update the decor of the rooms. Apart from that good hotel to use as a sightseeing base.
