This is a great property to stay for the price. It’s cozy and the location is walking distance from Union Square and Chinatown. Transportation from Muni, BART, and. Cable car stop is nearby. A liquor store is conveniently located next to the hotel for any water or small snacks or items. The walls are thin so you can hear people talking or leaving their rooms sometimes but otherwise it’s relatively quiet. Our room was near an alley so we were able to hear the noise from outside. This is a nice place to stay so I’m happy with this hotel for a short trip. Also an attendant is posted at the front desk 24 hours a day, making check in and late check in, in our case easy.

This hotel was in an area filled with great restaurants and bars, all of which were walkable and easy to access. There is not a lot of parking but the hotel provides a promo code for a parking garage about one block away which was very convenient. The hotel itself is nice and the room was clean, but the beds were not the most comfortable. It is a bit loud in the rooms at night, but that is expected because it is in the heart of city.

The location was good. The wi-fi reception was bad on the 6th floor, so they switched me to a third floor room. The room was bigger and had a better wi-fi reception, but there were ants all over the bathroom. So, I had to buy a bug sprayer next day and sprayed all over the place. Breakfast they offered is quite limited; just toasts, apples and coffee.

Around this hotel was unsafe. A lot of homeless, weird people, I felt like someone hit me at any moment. Someone was walking on street only underwear. Elevator was very old, very hard to open and creaking. I walked on 3 floor by stairs for safety. Breakfast can hardly be called breakfast. Coffee, toast and cereal to water. Only one good think was apples and oranges. No parking lot, they offered place to parking for $30 (regular car) on place actually was 40. Room was very small, not much access to bed. Bathroom very small, from under tub water was leaking on flore during taking shower. I decided check-out early morning and find anything else even I loose money for it. Absolutely not acceptable place for me and it's waist of money.

We ended up in a room with a toilet that didn’t work, so it flooded the bathroom and bedroom carpet. (We were given another room.) Multiple room keys wouldn’t work for us either, so there was a lot of trekking up and down stairs. Breakfast options were minimal - a plain bagel, white toast, apple, yoghurt, or oatmeal. Hotel was not expensive, but in that price range for that area we could have done better: won’t be back.

Parking can be hard to come by but it’s within 15 minutes walking distance of the Powell BART station. A perfect stay if you want to go shopping around the iconic Union square or if you are attending one of the many concerts at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.

Super clean and had a huge room relative to other small, boutique hotels in the same area. I’ll look for it again next time I’m in town. I’m a light sleeper and needed ear plugs because of the early morning street noise (garbage trucks, deliveries, etc). Gonna be the same in any small hotel in Union Square though!

Ok Hotel. You get what you pay for. Small rooms. Old and noisy (Hotel itself and surroundings), but great location. If you need a bed and a shower but also look out for your budget, you found your place.

The staff were lovely and helpful. The area was very noisy, with traffic and shouting outside, but could sleep alright with earplugs. No air conditioning in the room, so windows could only be open during day (for noise) to try to cool off the room. Overall, the hotel was rather "tired" -- but then it was much more affordable relative to others -- but in a convenient area.

Loved our stay at the Fitzgerald. Very cute and quaint hotel in a classic San Fran architecture building. Safe location, lots of dining options, very walkable and access to public transport. Biggest qualm was the parking was expensive and a bit of a hassle, but other than that we loved our stay!

Staff were friendly. I had reserved two rooms. The bed and towels were clean. The room was a bit beat up. In one room the bathtub and sink would back up. In one one room the coffeemaker and microwave did not work. Didn’t try the TV. In another the TV did not work. I didn’t try the other appliances.

Overall a great hotel. I enjoyed the staff and rooms very much. I would have liked a continental breakfast with more than white bread. Maybe a loaf of brown. Maybe some yogurt. Maybe some muffins. Just a thought.

Our room was on the 6th floor and my husband really wanted to transfer to a lower floor but when we reached to our room, we really liked it. It's so clean especially the bathroom and it's quite. The receptionist was kind and helpful. I'm glad we booked at this hotel.

Better than I expected for the price. I paid a little over $60 for a small twin bed room with a private bath. The room also comes with a continental breakfast of bread, coffee, and fruit. People have to rate this place for what it is (a one star hotel). It’s a place to sleep for a night at a very affordable price! I walked from here to a show at the Bill Graham civic auditorium (22 minutes) and while there are a few dodgy characters you will see, as you go through the tenderloin, it’s not as bad as you were probably taught to believe. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and I would return again and again.

I'm not sure what these other reviewers are expecting, rule of thumb, you get what you pay for. I didn't read the reviews till after I booked a room here and was expecting the worst! Honestly, everything was as described in the listing, I can't speak on the breakfast because I slept in. My husband and I had the King room, room 408, and it was cute. It had a fridge, microwave and tiny coffee maker. Note, if you opt to use the coffee maker bring bottled water, I had to use tap water and it wasn't great. The room was as clean as I expected a building to be that was built in 1910. Our bed and bathroom were clean, the only thing I noticed was a previous guest had spilt something in the freezer and it was left to fester. There isn't AC but we had a ceiling fan which was better than nothing and with the bathroom and bedroom windows open it was comfy. Our room looked out onto the alley which I didn't mind, we were only staying one night. We left and came back about 10ish and upon returning we noticed that the bathroom ceiling was leaking from the floor above and it was a pretty significant leak considering there was a small but steady flow of water coming down the wall and it was getting trapped behind the paint. We told the front desk right away and he came right up and took pics of it to send to his manager but that was all. It was fairly quiet through the night and I probably stay here again. Parking is about 2 blocks away. The elevator is epic & tiny. Conveniently located.
