Large convention hotel near Union Square

Posted Oct 15, 2014
Pros: Rooms were nice.
Cons: Dining facilities.
Location: Union Square area. Marginal neighborhood. Most destinations require taxis. About 2 blocks from cable cars.
Public areas and rooms were very nice. Dining facilities were totally inadequate--1 restaurant and a Starbuck's for a large hotel. The lines were very long and prices were high. The neighborhood was sketchy and I wouldn't have gone walking at night to look for another place nearby to eat. Plan on using taxis.

Nice hotel, great Union square location.

Very busy hotel, but had nice rooms that were clean with comfy beds and pillows, also quiet. Concierge was very helpful and my husband enjoyed the fitness area and pool. We had an evening return flight and was disappointed that the hotel would only give us a 1 hr later checkout and for a $25 charge, we decided to decline.

Hilton October

Posted Oct 14, 2014
Location: Nicely located, near to Union Square, but not directly on it.
Put us up in a newly renovated room. Nicely appointed, but a couple of quirks. Shower controls on wall opposite from the actual shower head, very narrow sink with faucet on left hand side (to better fit within the smaller bathroom space), no real dresser, just some drawers placed just above floor level. Nice, though, that TV is mounted on a separate panel to minimize noise intrusion to the adjacent room and good array of outlets. Hotel is large and always lots of people sitting or milling about the lobby. A bit challenging sometimes to navigate when folks are standing around. Staff was very helpful and nice, though.

Terrible staff at check-in.

Posted Oct 13, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Check-in process
Location: Great location
There was no one at the HH Honors line, it took over 35 minutes to check-in. The person had a terrible attitude and hotel made nothing to make it up. Since there is a Starbucks inside and free wi-fi, the lobby was filled with people that had nothing to do with the hotel.

Great location in central Union Square

Posted Oct 12, 2014
Pros: Great location
Cons: Wireless policy and the beggars outside.
Location: In the middle of most things anyone would want; restaurants, bars, shopping, transport (including the cable cars).
The hotel is good, no mini bar though and not even a fridge to keep your own items cold. Extremely busy venue so there will always be a load of people around, and the wireless is really pricey.

the hotel is reasonably nice, if dated. the neighborhood is pretty seedy - to call this a Union Square hotel is misleading.

Hotel now not in the nicest location.

Posted Oct 8, 2014
Tried to check in early but told room wasn't ready, but for an additional $25 I could get a room immediately. REALLY. No room to check in but for $25 there a room. Location of the hotel was less than desirable. Didn't really feel comfortable.
