“Well priced retro style, near the best of SF”
This neighborhood hotel packs a big punch for a reasonable price. The former 'motor inn' is refurbished with bright colors and fun, cost efficient style and the upbeat staff is second to none. A neighborhood gem for access to the best parts of the city: the Marina, Pacific Heights, Fort Mason (Sunday market), Palace of Fine Arts, Presidio, etc - plus fab restaurants and walks. It is 2 blocks from the amenities of both Chestnut Street and Union Street. Central 'downtown' attractions are a short cab ride away. Consider earplugs, based on motor in layout.
“Nice little hotel”
The Hotel del Sol has an extremely warm staff, clean if small rooms, serviceable breakfast a small heated pool and a couple of hammocks that my kids wore out in the two days we stayed there. It is perhaps a bit farther from major attractions than I would have liked, but the surrounding area is full of shops and good places to eat.
“HOTEL DEL SOL-S.F.- GREAT STAFF”
SUPER FRIENDLY STAFF AND CONVENIENT LOCATION. A LITTLE NOISY FROM OTHER ROOMS, BUT NICE OVERALL. SMALL PARKING LOT TOO. BRING A SUPER SMALL CAR.
“noisy, noisy, noisy”
The staff was great! They were friendly and helpful. However the hotel was very noisy due to street traffic and the other hotel patrons partying.
“Good choice for us”
The staff was friendly and accomodating. The hotel itself was colorful. The beds were comfortable. A good vibe. Parking was a bit tight. We were a good walk away from many things but closer to others. We like to walk so it was good for us.
“July 2011”
The hotel is fine, considering it's like a boutique hotel and is not necesary to book in a bigger one
“Great hotel!”
The hotel itself was great and we would highly recommend it! We especially enjoyed the variety of fresh pastries offered every day for breakfast. The hotel design was beautiful too, except for (and I realize this is a petty thing but still) the wall paintings which looked very amateur and tasteless. They really didn't match hotel's quality. San Francisco is such a beautiful city that even a poster of the Golden Gate Bridge would've been more interesting to look at instead of that so-called "abstract" hotel art.
“Very good”
Excellent location!
“Would stay there again!”
Hotel was pretty great for a "motel." Was in a great location. We were able to walk from the hotel to Fisherman's Wharf! Only down side was the street noise early in the morning and the shower was too short! I am 5'7" and my boyfriend is 6' and we both were too tall!!
“Great for families visiting the area.”
Great staff, very friendly. Great place for kids to hang out. Loved the colorful close knit feel of the hotel.
