Convenient locationPosted Feb 16, 2015
Pros: Staff, beds, location
Location: 20 min walk to cable car turnaround, 3 min walk to bus stop, safe to walk around, many restaurants and shops in walking distance
15 minutes walk to Ghiradelli Square, 3 more minutes walk to cable car turnaround where we took a cable car to Union Square. I called in advance to let them know that we wanted to park our car there to go sightseeing before 3 pm, not only she said it's no problem but they had our room ready for us to check in at 1 pm. They also let us leave our car there after we checked out. The lady at the front desk was so nice and kind. Then we wanted to go to a restaurant on Fillmore St. for dinner, this time a gentleman at the front desk was so helpful and nice, he explained me how to take bus there and showed me an app to download on my phone which locates you on the map and tells you when the next bus is coming. We were so glad to learn how to take public transportation since the city was crazy crowded, impossible to find parking and hills were too steep like beginning of roller coaster ride. The hotel had very good maps to show all the transportation route in the city. Those hotel staff were just amazing! The room was clean with fluffy pillows, firm comfy mattress covered with clean white soft sheets. I'd definitely recommend this hotel!

Great locationPosted Feb 10, 2015
We were pleased with the hotel but unhappy to learn that they don't honor specifics from your reservation when made through Expedia. We booked two adjoining rooms and when we arrived we were told that hey were not available. We were told that they do not honor those requests from Expedia. This was disappointing because we were three adults traveling with a baby. This meant that one of us missed out on socializing with the others to stay in the room with the baby while she slept.

This is a very comfortable and adorable hotel away from the hustle and bustle of Union Square and the Financial District. The area was full of lovely shops and restaurants. Easy to get around the city from there on the bus. Breakfast is included and the coffee was great, fresh cookies in the afternoon. Free town car ride to the Financial District M-F in the am.

Basic, but goodPosted Dec 22, 2014
Pros: Facilities; wifi, breakfast, kid friendly atmosphere and neighbourhood.
Cons: Deco and revamping the rooms.
Location: we love the neighbourhood. Great shopping nearby, really lovely places to eat, including sushi bars and a Mels diner and ihop for the kids!
We've stayed here twice now and there is something about the vivid colours and kid friendly style of this hotel that draws us back each time. The good points: It has wi-fi; comfortable beds; easy parking (for $10 per day) and it's in a good location for us, we love that part of town and it's easy access to the 101 highway. Our kids also love the fact they can go into reception area and get themselves some cookies and lemonade and that it feels like it's a hotel that caters to them. The bad points: The decor could be better, we found that the room was comfortable, but it seemed like it was a paint cover up job and there was a cold musty smell in the room when we arrived, indicating some damp. The price of the room seemed alot for what we were getting. $217 for one night was high and we felt that we could have probably got a higher end hotel for that money if we had shopped around a bit. But saying all that we know what we are going to get with Hotel Del Sol, so we always opt for it because we know it will be easy to book and we know where it is and the facilities etc. We will definetely book here again in the future, but if a better deal comes up on a comparison website at a higher end hotel then we would probably book it. The price can be expensive if staying here for a few nights. We have recommended it to friends and they have chosen not to book because the price was prohibitive....which is a shame because it has everything else going for it.

Birthday & concert stay.Posted Dec 8, 2014
Pros: Dog friendly, but CLEAN.
Location: Fisherman's Wharf is also close.
Brought my wife here for her birthday, from Reno. We both had a great time. Easy trolley or cab ride to The Fillmore. Loved the courtyard. Great spot to chill and have a glass of wine.

Tired HotelPosted Dec 8, 2014
Cons: Tear it down.
My reserved room, king bed, was not available at time of check in. Plumbing problem. Hmm. Was given shoebox size room with smaller bed and barely any amenities. Thank goodness we did have two towels and two hand towels for the two of us. Picked this hotel because of location but will go out of my way to avoid this hotel in the future.

Good for a family tripPosted Dec 6, 2014
Cons: the breakfast
Location: very close to the bay so you can walk (20mn)
The only bemol is the lack of breakfast room so you've to take your breakfast in your room which is not really equiped for that... Other than that, the motel is quite good
