Nice hotel in JapantownPosted Feb 26, 2015
Pros: Friendly and accommodating front desk staff. Excellent location.
Location: In Japantown. One block from Geary, and not far from Union Square (a short bus ride or a pleasant but long walk).
We stayed 5 nights at Hotel Kabuki, visiting relatives who live near Japantown. The hotel is very nice, but showing signs of age. I understand a renovation is planned in the near future. The room was pleasant, with comfortable beds, but it was difficult to control the room temperature. The bathroom needs redesign, as there is a too-small deep soaking tub and a shower outside the tub, which results in water getting all over the floor. There are sliding doors across the windows, but they are difficult to maneuver. Our room was quiet, however, and the staff was very pleasant. All in all, if you are looking for a comfortable hotel in a nice section of San Francisco, away from the madness of downtown (Union Square and Market Street), this is a nice choice. I would stay there again.

Wonderful hotel next to the Japan CenterPosted Feb 23, 2015
Location: Japan Center, Fillmore Street, California Street (cable car) ca. 10min away
Wonderful, cozy hotel next to the Japan Center in Japantown. Walking distance to more shops at Fillmore Street. Lots of shops and restaurants next door in the Japan Center, perfect if you like sushi, ramen & shabu shabu. Hotel was very clean and quiet. Pro: they have a taxi transfer service to the airport, for $16. Contra: when I came from the BART station with my luggage, there is no direct bus transfer. So taxi costed me $15 for a 10min ride.

Cute hotel with good locationPosted Feb 21, 2015
I really enjoyed this hotel. The gardens outside the lobby were beautiful. My room was surprisingly large. I loved the deep bathtub and separate shower. The restaurant attached had a good happy hour. One thing that was particularly good is the location. It is central to some main points of the city yet not in the chaos. I was on a girls trip but would love to bring my family to this hotel. Not to be forgotten was the very friendly front desk and vallet.

Nice hotelPosted Feb 20, 2015
Pros: The staff and the cleaniness of the rooms.
Cons: The TV could be bigger and the rooms could use some updating.
Location: If you like Japanese food. This is a great place. You are close to a bunch of japanese restaurants and there are plenty of stores to get want you need
Overall the hotel is nice. The staff was very friendly and eager to help. Domingo was awesome at assisting my needs with the kids. The rooms are clean but hotel can use some updating.

Great hotel In the Japanese areaPosted Feb 19, 2015
Cons: The breakfast menu could be expanded.
The hotel is located in a convenient spot. Parking is underneath the hotel and easy to find, that is a major plus in San Francisco. The hotel staff is friendly and knowledgable. You can get a massage in your room and they have a convenient room service program for breakfast. The rooms are super clean and elegant. The view from the rooms is very nice.

nice Japanese style hotelPosted Feb 17, 2015
Very friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Japanese style bathroom. I liked the Japantown location because it is close to my friend's home, but some may wish to be closer to downtown.

Excellent locationPosted Feb 7, 2015
Location: Japantown, and so many other things.
The people here were great, had an excellent time - and you're right on top of the Japantown Mall? killer. The building itself was beautiful and well maintained, it seemed a little on the older side, but that just showed it's been making people happy for a while now. Definitely check it out if your in SF looking for a classy nice time in a beautiful part of town. Upgraded at check in to a corner balcony, for an awesome view, left the car in the garage for a couple days and it was safe and spared us having to drive the hills of SF during our stay.

Over priced eye-candyPosted Feb 6, 2015
Pros: The lobby, the Japanese styling is attractive.
Cons: Little air movement in the room, which was small. Felt like a sardine. Amenities are OK but over-priced. Staff is friendly.
Location: Near the 101 but not especially well placed if doing business at Union Square. Choose not to eat here.
Extremely small room, no air, noisy from both street noise and neighbor. This hotel looks fine, especially handsome in the lobby, but the rooms are not so fine. Garage was an additional $17 for the night as usual. Clean, bed was comfoortable. Neighborhood is average. If staying in SF one can do better.

Great to be there on a Friday night - one of two nights in the week - when the hotel was offering sake tasting!

No Curtains, room like mid-day all nightPosted Feb 5, 2015
Pros: Good location, pleasant appearance, pleasant doorman
Cons: Curtains on windows to block out their own sign which makes the room like daytime all night.
Location: Japan town, good parking
Good location and pleasing facility. I wanted to be happy, but I am cranky after a night of no sleep. The curtains had been removed from our 3rd floor street side room. When we complained no one but the doorman seemed to care. To me, this is inexcusable on a Sunday night with a hotel that has many available rooms. I will not return.
