Very comfortable

I highly recommend this hotel. Very comfortable rooms, helpful staff, good food, especially the Japanese breakfast, and easy parking.

convient location to all areas of the city

Pros: location and parking garage and breakfast options
Cons: Need TV guide in room Need electrical outlet by the coffee machine Need comfortable chair in room Need more shelf space in bathroom
Overall it was fine for the price. Good location with adjacent parking garage and excellent breakfast selection. It could use a few improvements as noted below.

Pleasant

I have stayed here a couple of times. It's in a great location, neighborhood is relatively quiet and feels safe. Plenty of good Japanese food and shopping. Hotel is nice enough, however, it does feel dated. Last time, I stayed in the Executive Suite and it was excellent. Unfortunately, I can't afford that luxury all the time!

19th Wedding Anniversary!

Pros: Quietness & superb staff & great customer service
Cons: Nothing.
Location: Right in Japantown which nearby are many nice restaurants & shopping stores.
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel especially when we were upgraded to a room with view. That was the icing on the cake! So nice of them to do that for us as it really did help make this a memorable Anniversary! We hope to return again one day!

Good Price, Nice Location, Needs Some Work

Pros: Location (Fillmore District/Japantown) -- right on the Geary Street bus line for easy transport. Staff accommodates early check in. Deep soak tubs.
Cons: Safe/coffeemaker didn't work. Lobby dull. Bar open at limited times. Area outside room is dirty (bird droppings) & stains on room divider screens.
Location: Fillmore music scene / upper Fillmore trendy shops/restaurants/bars. Japan Town restaurants and shopping.
Third stay at this hotel in the last year. Love the location for seeing shows at the Fillmore (a short walk away). Also enjoy eating and shopping in Japan Town and the greater Fillmore district. The price is reasonable right now (I'm a budget hotel shopper) possibly due to some areas lacking in the hotel's upkeep.

Room temperature

Pros: the staff were nice.
Cons: temperature and there were no shower curtains.
Location: Great
They don't have individual room heating and cooling system.We can not bring the thermostat down to below 70 degrees F. We called the desk and they said that the central heating is on and that they cannot change it back to central air conditioning. I woke up perspiring and then I can't go back to sleep. We stayed 5 days and the temperature in the room was uncomfortably hot. We tried to open the windows so the cool air can come in but its noisy. Everything else , the staff and cleanliness was ok.

Central

I have no real complaints about our stay- the staff was friendly and the room was fine. You can tell the property is a bit old, however- the corners of the wallpaper in the bathroom were peeling and some of the features just felt and looked outdated. The room could definitely use some refreshing as far as decor and ambience goes, but overall we had a nice stay. The biggest complaint I have is the street traffic noise occasionally heard in our room, and I suppose that is out of the hotel's hands. The hotel is also relatively central to the city, so most attractions are just a quick ride or nice walk away. There are a lot of great shops and eateries in the surrounding Japantown, which were fun to explore. We didn't rent a car, seeing as parking was something like $45/night, and decided to Uber everywhere, which was perfect and way more affordable (most fares were under $10). Definitely recommend that!
