Centrally located. Easy taxi and bus access. I wish there were more breakfast options on the menu. Very friendly staff and our maid was so kind and accommodating. I wish I knew her name. 10th floor.

I've stayed at this hotel through the years. The owners have done a good job maintaining a modern appeal despite it being an older building with some older fixtures giving that away - so many decorative touches and the feeling at this hotel is unique. Besides its uniqueness the best quality for me is its location in San Francisco. It's near everything and I especially love how easy it is to access, park cheaply underneath, and walk to the myriad of delicious food options in Japantown. I'll keep going back whenever I have to stay in S.F.. I do wish the beds in the Double room were a little roomier for a couple and that the breakfast in the restaurant downstairs was a bit more affordable -- still, all three of us slept like babies and our breakfasts (especially the traditional Japanese one) were delicious for the money.

Hotel within walking distance of almost everything

Clean, comfortable, nice bargain in the city. The room with a king sized bed had a roomy bathroom too.

property is 'tired'

Posted Jan 18, 2015
Pros: cute theme in the common areas, not really carried out within the rooms except for the sogi screens over the windows.
Cons: pretty much needs a full remodel
Location: was only there one night for a convention, didn't get to see Japan Town, but was thankful I wasn't staying in the Tenderloin.
booked a King - got a double. they were oversold due to large conventions in town. only two room options were available (both doubles) A. directly next to the elevator, or B. a handicap room further down the hall. I chose the handicap. It was small, very strange smell in the bathroom when you ran the showers, very close to the kitchen vents so you couldn't really open the windows for fresh air without the whole room smelling like kitchen exhaust. Hotel is a bit run down and shabby. Staff was nice, they credited me the two bottles of water from the room due to the disappointing stay.

While it's a pleasure to have welcomed you, we're disappointed to hear that the visit missed the mark for you and apologize for the shortcomings with your respective room. We can appreciate the frustrations and hope to showcase more preferential accommodations and our more trademark hospitality the next time you're in San Francisco.

Decompressing after Xmas with family

Posted Jan 3, 2015
Love that they provide bathrobes in the room!!! The bath salts provided were a nice touch too. Overall it was the perfect relaxing getaway after our families were done stressing us out about not visiting enough and not making any babies. If I'm being really picky, I didn't love that we were in an ADA room. The shower had a weird chair thing in it and I had a weird feeling that there was someone staying in the hotel who needed that room more than me. There were also a TON of $8 snacks and beverages on the counter tops, which kind of just got in the way because I was not there to binge on junk food in my hotel room. Being right there in Japan town was amazing, and being so close to the mall and so many good places to eat was so convient. Next time I will plan ahead and book some spa treatments. They were all booked when I tried to get something same day. My fault on that one. I will defenitly be staying here again!

Safe neighborhood

Posted Jan 3, 2015
We were really impressed with the hotel and area. We were able to easily catch the busses or walk a few blocks to good restaurants. Only downside was that the room was warm. I know hotels in San francisco don't always have a/c but this room said it did and wouldn't cool off. It wasn't that bad as we visited during the winter, but if we got too hot at night we couldn't get it cooled off. The rooms were plenty big enough. The walls are thin, so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. But again the neighborhood is nice and quiet and you won't be bothered by traffic noise or party animals. The staff were all really nice. Even at a 1am check in from us! When I come back to SF, I will definitely stay here again.

Thanks for the enthusiastic feedback of your Kabuki experience. It was a great pleasure to welcome you, and we apologize if the bustle of the city and property caused any hinderance to your stay. We certainly look forward to welcoming you back and to showcasing some of the more quieter nooks of the property, and we hope it won't be too long before travels return you this way. Best wishes in 2015, and many thanks for being our valued guest!

Great cultural location!

Posted Jan 2, 2015
Hotel Kabuki provided us a wonderful environment, in an area rich in Japanese culture and that is centrally located from most that San Francisco has to offer. Rooms were unique and comfortable. I'd stay there again.

Tranquil Asian experience

Posted Dec 29, 2014
Pros: The asain inspiration
Location: Japan town shopping center
The hotel is beautiful asian inspired with asian decor and fragrent aroma of wood and pine scents throuoght. The asian theme is consistant throughout the hotel including a garden with fountain, pond , koi fish, and a cute path. The rooms had asisin style shutters, and the resterant has the same feel. It destination like including the japan town attractions within walking distance. Perfect for a in town get away or romantic fantacy.
