Hotel - air coditioning

Posted Apr 17, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Air conditioner (portable) should be provided during hot weather.
great hotel. No air conditioning. During our stay in San Francisco the temperatures were over 80 degrees. Very uncomfortable. Had to stay out of room until evening because of the temp. If I had known it was not air conditioned I would not have booked that hotel. Expedia should provide me a complementary hotel credit for a future stay for our inconvenience.

Great old hotel in a good location

Posted Apr 15, 2014
We absolutely loved our stay here. Staff was great, the restaurant was good, we stayed in the Junior suite, it was nice and roomy, with the old-style bathtub. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. (get the junior suite, worth the extra bucks)

Potentially great place to stay......BUT

Posted Apr 11, 2014
Hotel is mis-managed at the front desk area; no control or organization and lack of communication. Old antique, charming and smells old. Floors are really creaky so make sure to ask for the top floor if you don't want to hear people walking around on top of you at varying hours. Bar Tender is a true mixologist and belongs someplace that would appreciate his talent....... Dining Room is nice, food is good. Good location. I'd stay again, but it is not my top choice.

Hotel with a lot of potential

Posted Apr 11, 2014
Pros: Hotel Staff, cleanliness of hotel, and it did have some charm.
Cons: The furniture needs replacing, sofa beds need to be upgraded, ventilation needs improving.
Location: Nice cathedral near by. If you are able to walk public transportation easily accessible.
If the furniture and comfort of the sofa beds ranked in the same category as the Hotel Staff and cleanliness this would be a wonderful place to stay. Furniture old and stained, another two mattresses need to be added to sofa beds. No airport shuttle as advertised on travel websites need a taxi to get to destination. A lot of emergency traffic noise not to mention upset people arguing outside hotel. Easy public commute to tourist attractions but would have preferred to stay in union square. No A/C rooms stuffy and hot.

Warm & Cozy Vintage Hotel near Union Square!

Posted Apr 9, 2014
Pros: Everything!
Cons: The heating situation was a bit of a problem at first. It took almost a day before it was working in our room.
Location: The Hotel is between Alamo Park and Union Square. There's a SUPER AWESOME cafe called 'Sweet Maple' on Sutter and Steiner that's a MUST EAT.
Such a cute place!! Has a restaurant on the lobby level with amazingly delicious food and drinks!!! This hotel is inundated with beautiful detailed artwork, even in the wallpaper! The atmosphere is always warm and relaxing. The staff is professional, yet friendly and social. I think they did a very good job of making us feel at home. LOVE, LOVE , LOVE the vintage set up! I think it dates back to the early 1900's? So awesome!

Nice hotel

Posted Apr 1, 2014
Pros: For driving purposes it was close to the stuff we wanted to do. Nice area.
Cons: The overnight parking said that it was $25, but it ended up being $28.50.....they should have really let us know in advance!
Location: Good location!
The hotel was very nice. I enjoyed my time there and had a nice view. It was really pretty decor, but I was sad that there was a fireplace in the room just for decoration (there really should have been a sign saying that it was just for decoration). Hotel staff were nice and I enjoyed the breakfast.

Old San Francisco

Posted Mar 30, 2014
Location: Not really near any place you might need to go. And taxi service in SF has become impossible. $25 parking has in-out priviledges.
It's the oldest continually operating hotel in SF, built in 1902. Lacking in amenities, but really pretty charming. And a cordial, efficient staff.
