Hotel Monaco -- charming and fun.

Posted Dec 18, 2014
Pros: Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Family friendly, dog friendly, yoga friendly! Just a wonderful place to stay in the heart of San Francisco.
Cons: Hotel Monaco reserves their "best common space" (i.e. near fire places, etc.) for private holiday parties. Unfortunate I did not know ahead of time.
Location: Everything! Theater, shopping, dining, Union Square, cable cars, downtown, China Town, etc.
Lovely experience. Second time to stay here and would gladly stay here again!

This is a wonderful hotel in a great, convenient location of the city. I've stayed here before and would stay again. The rooms are comfortable, attractive, and clean. The lobby areas are gorgeous. The staff is very friendly and helpful!

Hotel review

Someone should have told us that the hotel was under construction and the amenities, such as the restaurant, bar, and pool/spa were closed...At the price you are paying you should at lease get that much.

They could not do enough for us from the moment we arrived till we left . From knowing our names to always asking if they could do anything for us The best experience in the States of our travels The elegance and depth if the place was second to none

Had a great time. Hotel is great. No food on site but they are remodeling. Parking an oversize car is very expensive. Park around the corner and save $25 by parking in the same garage they do. Location is on the border of questionable even though it's near union square. There is a walgreens across the street which is handy.

Great location, very friendly staff

Posted Nov 26, 2014
Staff was very kind, accommodating and helpful. Hotel was very clean and nicely decorated. Nice sitting areas to relax. Room was quiet, not overly spacious, but not too small either. Comfy bed. Great location for excellent restaurants and shopping. Would definitely stay there again.

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Typical of a Klimpton. The restaurant was under construction. Some rooms are a little cramped. But overall, the room was a pleasant refuge from the frenetic activity outside on Union Square.

Thank you for the kind words about our staff. We want our guests to feel like this is their home. We are sorry about the construction and the noise, but the final product should be well worth it.

Romantic 'staycation"

Posted Nov 10, 2014
As San Francisco natives, we wanted a romantic, elegant and fun night away. The Hotel Monaco is fantastic. The location is of course great. The hotel manages to be both elegant and whimsical and fun. The rooms are pretty small, but their excellent design compensates. Highly recommend.

We are honored that you chose us for a "staycation." Hopefully, you can come back next year when all of our work has been completed. Maybe we can get a 6 star review?

This hotel is going down hill.

Posted Nov 5, 2014
Pros: Its lobby is beautifully decorated.
Cons: See above
Location: All of the fun things to do around Union Square plus close to Fisherman's Wharf, etc
I understand the hotel is under renovation and I was fine with that. Yet, the carpets are dirty, I mean really dirty, in the hallways, in the rooms. I did get a smaller room this time because all the kings were booked but the only place to sit, except the bed, was the desk seat! Surely, the could have squeezed in a little, comfy chair somewhere? And the hotel room was dirty, probably because in many very obvious areas, it had not been cleaned or dusted in awhile. It made me wonder about what I could not see! Very disappointed. Had been my go-to hotel for a long time......

Oh, no. I am so sorry to hear this. We just replaced the carpet 1.5 years ago. And we replaced the hallway carpets, as well. I will try to do some research to figure out which room you stayed in, because we definitely need to remedy this, if it is an issue.

Excellent hotel close to Union square.

Posted Nov 3, 2014
Pros: Stylish, great service, excellent location.
Cons: Once the retaurant is open again, room service would be an asset.
Location: The tram is close. Union square is only blocks away and John Foleys Irish pub has a dueling piano bar on the lower level. That was a blast!
The hotel itself was very cozy. Both lobbies were very inviting. The staff was polite and helpful. The decor was stylish as well.
