Great experience!

We recently stayed at this hotel and had a wonderful experience. It was clean, comfortable, close to Union Square and the staff was very accommodating. We will return again!

Seeking a new fave SF hotel and this won't be it

Posted Jul 20, 2014
Pros: Nothing enough to choose it again. Expedia should remove it from it's offerings.
Cons: See above disappointments and see if you can address them for future guests. I won't be staying here again nor recommending it.
Location: It's San Francisco, lots nearby but the doormen didn't even know their neighborhood. They didn't know about available food in the n'hood after 10p.
Disappointing. Thin walls, heard guests on each side. Shower water took forever to go from cold to warm but not really hot water. Light bulb out in bathroom, even after housekeeping had cleaned once. Ironing board on inside closet door rattled everytime we opened closet, we finally moved it to the window behind a curtain.

A couple of blocks from Union Square

Posted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: Again, great staff. nice location.
Cons: Outside room windows were dirty. I know it's hard to keep them clean in a large city, just a minor detail.
Location: There is a hole in the wall café a couple blocks from the hotel "Farm to Table" . They only serve organic food and menu changes daily. Was great!
Spent four nights there. The biggest plus was the staff. They were always very friendly and accommodating. We read reviews about being close to the Tenderloin; we never had any problems. Area was like any other area around Union Square. Couple of blocks walk from the BART. Just take Powell up to Geary and turn left and go a couple of blocks. We used Google while walking to get directions from the BART and ended up walking through the Tenderloin. It was mid afternoon and no one bothered us.

Great Location!

Posted Jul 16, 2014
Great location. Walking distance from Union Square, public transportation, etc. Overall, hotel looks great at first glance. A bit old but still very enjoyable. The new trendy deco balances the older infrastructure. We had the Jr. suite next to the elevator, facing Geary St. A bit of street noise. Room was not spacious but manageable for 2 adults and a teen. Housekeeping was good but not consistent (not always replacing all glasses, all towels, etc.). Concierge and staff was very helpful.

Thank you for the constructive feedback. Our building was constructed in 1910, but the rooms were renovated in 2013. I am sorry to hear housekeeping was not consistent and I will follow up with them.

Excellent Hotel.

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: Staff, service, proximity to shopping, dining, and entertainment.
Location: Walking distance to Union Square, shopping, dining, theaters.
This was our first experience with a Kimpton Hotel, and we were very pleased. The highlights would be the excellent staff. Everyone from the front desk to housekeeping was extremely pleasant and professional. They went out of their way to make sure our needs were met. This was a birthday weekend trip for my husband, and I called ahead to request a view room on a higher floor. My request was met, and we were given a room on the 7th floor. Once in our room we were surprised by a beautiful bottle of wine and a hand written birthday card for my husband. The 7th floor was very quiet, very little outside noise. However, you are in the city! The room was an average size by SF standards, nicely decorated. Very clean. Nice sized bathroom. Good shower head and water pressure. Very comfortable bed. They also supply you with terry animal print bathrobes, (I love up a soft terry bathrobe) however, these robes were not very soft. Oh well. We did miss both the tea hour and the free wine hour. Maybe next time. Overall our stay was excellent and we will certainly be staying here again. Overall our experience was excellent and we will certainly be staying here again.

Close to everything

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: The location
Cons: I would like to see them serve coffee and free breakfast
Location: Shopping/food
The hotel was very close to everything. The staff was very helpful. My husband left his sunglasses on the table when we left. I called a few minutes later and they looked all around for me until they found them.

Thank you for the 5 Star review. And I believe I may have been the one to find the sunglasses and then spoke to you on the phone. I am glad that worked out.

Nice hotel, bad location!

Posted Jul 10, 2014
Hotel and staff were great. Rooms are modern and clean. What I failed to realise is that it is right on the edge of the Tenderloin- a place you should avoid!! I wouldn't recommend due to location, go stay somewhere lovely like North Beach for a holiday. Much more to do, livelier surroundings and you don't feel so nervous venturing out in the early morning or after dark.

I was disappointed in the location of the hotel. The first thing that hit me square in the face was that parking is 52.00 per night. The restaurant in the hotel is not very good. I would not stay at this hotel again.

I am sorry to hear you did not like the location of our hotel. And I agree that valet parking is very expensive. Please know we are always more than happy to recommend other garages where you can self-park your car at a lower cost.

Great hotel in the city, doesn't break the bank
