Beautiful Hotel - But

Posted Oct 21, 2014
Pros: It was clean, very modern - bed very comfortable, bathroom clean and spacious.
Location: Close to shopping and public transportation - close to Union Square
The Hotel Nikko is beautiful, however we were VERY disappointed with the surrounding neighborhood/area. It borders the Tenderloin district within 2 blocks. The surrounding area is quit seedy/sketchy - and questionable venturing out at night for dinner, +. During the day, OK, but again not great. No issues with the Hotel itself except the surrounding area.

Nice staff at checkin. The room (Imperial floor) was comfortable, beds/pillows awesome. Lounge was ok. Very nice people working there, and a great Union Square location.

Awesome Honeymoon!

Pros: Everything!!!!
Cons: nop, is an A+
First of all let me say that the staff is an A+, Manuel at the front desk and Theresa at the concierge desk made it more pleasant. The location of the hotel couldn't be better, very easy access to the subway (just two blocks away). a lot of restaurants, and my newly wife love the stores at Union Square. Love it...!!!!

I booked 2 rooms with 2 double beds each to accommodate 6 people. When I arrived to check in I was given 2 rooms each with a king size bed. I told the front desk that when I booked the rooms it asked me how many people and it did not make sense to give us King sized beds. She said that when you book with expedia this is merely a request of what kind of beds you would like. I can understand that it can be considered a request if there were 2 people to each room. I think it should be expected that each person be given a bed to sleep in. She said there were no rooms available with double beds and would bring in roll away beds. I really had no choice so I agreed. When we went up to our rooms a roll away was brought to one room. We left for dinner and arrived back to the hotel close to midnight only to find the 2nd room still did not have a roll away bed. We had to call to the desk to remind them. This was quite an inconvenience and we felt crammed into a room that was too small for the number of people we had in our party.

Very clean hotel in convenient location with nearby bars and shopping. Room was clean and comfortable. Ate the breakfast buffet one morning and it was $30 with tax and tip and selection of American food items was limited. They do have many Japanese food items. There was no omelette bar and you could not get waffles. The eggs were mushy. Had better breakfast at Taylor Street Cafe the prior morning.
