Excellent and friendly staff!

Posted Mar 31, 2014
The Palomar is in a great location. Staff was exceptionally friendly. There was a lot of construction going on during our stay (late March 14).

Very nice stay...

Posted Mar 30, 2014
Location: We were just steps from the Trolley, and in the middle of all of the shopping.
We had a very nice 2 day stay, the room was very nice and quiet. Even with the construction, the hotel was very comfortable with coffee available on each floor and an great staff.

Avoid remodeling hotels

Posted Mar 25, 2014
Cons: Disclose remodeling status
Location: Right over the mail mall and nearby great places to eat. There was an excellent Indian place a couple of blocks North.
Excited about our stay only to be surprised and caught unawares that the hotel was being remodeled. As a result we felt as if we did not get to fully experience the hotel. Room was fine with a comfortable bed. Staff was friendly other than the bellman who was supposed to return to our room to give us tips on where to find a good sushi restaurant. He never showed. Just took his tip and split. Contrastingly, the bellman on the way out was pleasant helpful. I feel that hotels should disclose when they are remodeling and offer a reduced rate at least, but oh well. Location was hotel was great as it was right in the thick of everything. Trip was still good.

Glad you enjoyed our location and your stay despite being here during the final stages of our renovation. I am sorry you had to experience the dust, as we got a bit behind in the project and are now scheduled to open the restaurant on May 1st and the lobby by April 10th. Please come back and see us again, we would love to have you experience the results of the renovation and dine in our new outdoor patio, or simply huddle around the fire pit with a cocktail.

Very disappointed!

Posted Mar 24, 2014
Purchased the hotel through the unpublished rate as a 4 star. I am super disappointed and want to hear from someone at expedia pls. 1) the hotel bellhop was super condescending and rude 2) the hotel lobby was in shambles and empty and in the middle of a massive construction overhaul 3) the interim lobby was on the 9th floor and checked in - everything was a complete make shift mess 4) at 9 am the next morning they had serious construction and chainsaws right outside our door. The entire floor I was staying on was torn to shambles - even the drywall torn out 5) the following night/morning someone from the work staff opened out door at 5 am, saw that it was not vacant and turned around and ran out. This hotel should have been closed for this level of repair. I was shocked and appalled that this happened

Great Place to Stay for Moscone

Posted Mar 22, 2014
If attending a conference or the like at Moscone this hotel is a great choice. Less than other hotels further from the convention center, very clean and silent rooms. Staff is very friendly. Currently being renovated in the lobby so a little messy there but when finished will just make this hotel all the better!

Sorry you had to experience the renovation project. The lobby will officially re-open this week, yet sadly you were here during a hectic stage as the contractors tried to button up the final details. Please join us again, as I am sure you will be amazed by the finished product.

Nice downtown hotel

Posted Mar 11, 2014
Pros: Good downtown location. Nice to have coffee available in morning and wine in the afternoon.
Cons: Notify people when construction is going on in the hotel!
Location: Downtown. Close to cable car and BART, lots of shopping, nice mall, Union Square.
I have stayed at several Kimpton hotels before and they have always been great. Unfortunately, during the time that we were there, the lobby was being renovated which included having only a narrow path from street to elevator doors, much noisy equipment running, dirt and dust, and check-in relocated to a room on the 9th floor. A plus at these hotels is the daiily wine reception which certainly lost something since there was no lobby available. Typically, there is staff pouring wine which we did not find this time - just bottles set out. I think the fact that there was construction should have been noted when we booked the hotel. The room itself was fine and it's a great downtown location, close to the BART, shopping, etc. We were told construction would be done on Monday - it wasn't even close.

Thanks for joining us. The wine bottles are getting ready to be corked an poured in Kimpton fashion next week as we eagerly re-open our new lobby. Sorry things were a bit rough around the edges during your stay, yet please know we are coming back better and more beautiful than before. We look forward to seeing you again. Thanks for your continued loyalty to Kimpton.

Great Stay

Posted Mar 6, 2014
Pros: Service, location, comfy bed.
Cons: We went during the tail end of a renovation, they were in the process of redoing the lobby and front desk.
Location: Union Square 2 blocks away, Chinatown about 8 blocks, the Ferry Building a few blocks away, and on a Muni line and a Bart station out front.
We chose to stay here because of the central location, being on Market Muni line, etc, we'll definitely go back because of the service. We decided to stay here for our anniversary weekend, when the staff found that out, they kindly brought a bottle of bubbly and a personalized card to our room. This is nothing out of the ordinary per se, but only the Kimpton's are consistently so thoughtful. Regarding the location and not the hotel, Market Street can be a bit sketchy at times, especially after dark so if you aren't used to seeing people sleeping on the sidewalk at any time of day, or hookers of all varieties after dark you might want to stay on Nob Hill (or avoid SF altogether).
