Nice hotel with wine reception. Very clean and comfortable. Nice TVs with good stations (nice for watching in the morning and drinking coffee). Small room, but not much smaller than other boutique-y hotels. Seemed quiet to me.

Bathroom has a sliding door and it's very heavy.

Good room, not enough bed sheets or covers. There is no room service from what I understand.

Not up to a kimpton standard hotel.

Posted Feb 17, 2015
The kimpton product is excellent... but in san francisco this property is lacking the kimpton touch. It was below customer service levels for the brand and below a 4 star hotel due to many factors. One example, I stayed on the fifth floor and both nights I had dining room chairs left in the hallway outside my door... really ... who is the manager of this property... if Kimpton corporate would have witnessed this they would fired the staff immediately. matt las vegas nv date feb 14 the feb 16 2015

This was my first time staying at a Kimpton Hotel. My usual hotel chain was booked. I was pleasantly surprised by the Kimpton facilities and hospitality and will stay again.

Noisy room. Lousy fitness centre.

Posted Feb 7, 2015
Our room was facing a restaurant patio so we could hear lots of noise from the patrons until around 11PM or midnight. Then, around 6AM the employees start making noise pulling some kind of service carts and we could hear the wheels very loudly. We could also hear the showers running from adjacent rooms. Their fitness room has insufficient cardio equipment, very few dumbells and just one weight machine. The room has no music or TV, although each of the 3 cardio machines has its own screen. The staff was courteous and helpful.

Prime location & Cool Vibe

Posted Feb 4, 2015
Great stay at Hotel Palomar last weekend with my sister and our girls. The hotel was in a prime location, walking distance to the Ferry Building, Union Street shopping and more. Loved the cool vibe with quirky art splattered around the hotel. The room was spacious and clean. It was a bit noisy in the morning...I think we may have been near the laundry facilities. The sink & shower did not drain very well but housekeeping came to fix it as soon as we called. The Dirty Habit restaurant/bar was delicious and the outdoor patio/fireplace was breathtaking. Customer service throughout the hotel from the Dirty Habit, housekeeping, the bellman and the front desk were top notch with the exception of the on-duty manager, Whitney. She was condescending and rude to us on a number of occasions...including speaking poorly about me in the presence of my daughter/niece when I went to the garage to locate a bag that was misplaced by the bellman. All in all, we had a very pleasant experience and will definitely return next time we are in the city.

Close to SHOPPING

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Pros: the staff the location
Cons: the construction across the street was awfully loud free breakfast free wifi
Location: lots and lots of shopping multi-leveled mall a gazillion Starbucks and Walgreens public transportation routes nice restaurants
I enjoyed staying at the Hotel Palomar, but if you are looking for a hotel with ANY amenities (free wifi without having to join the Palomar "Club", a pool, free breakfast, etc.), you might be better off with a more traditional hotel in San Francisco. The staff at this hotel was EXTREMELY helpful with our numerous questions and never hesitated to suggest restaurants, transit routes, etc. Just awesome with all of that! This hotel is pretty swanky in a low-key kind of way. When you walk out the front door of the hotel, you are inundated with shopping choices. There's too much to even describe here. It's centrally-located and within walking distance (if you want to walk) to MANY cool SF sites. The other ones can be reached by public transportation.
