Very friendly and helpful. No restaurant on site, but a nice coffee shop next door. Rooms and bathroom large and nicely decorated, loved the choice of books 😊. You can take the BART service to the hotel, just exit Powell St and walk up Powell to Sutter. Cost of BART is about $11, and taxi is close to $50. Lovely restaurant near by called Roxanne Cafe at Powell and Bush (loved the dinner menu). Keep in mind that almost all of the restaurants close around 10pm.

LOVED our stay. Wonderful staff, easy check-in and out. Parking rates are VERY expensive.. but not unlike most of San Fran. Great area.. easily accessible to everywhere you might want. Nice, quirky rooms with plenty of space. Not super quiet, but in fairness we were only on the second floor facing the street. Only other complaint was no bathroom fan.

I love the Emblem, this was my 2nd stay. Both times were great. I love the style and amenities. The staff are great - friendly and helpful. It’s reassuring to see the same faces a year later. Great beds, rooms are big enough, you don’t feel squeezed. The property is well maintained and it’s a short walk to Chinatown and Union Station. Tons of restaurants in walking distance. It’s definitely my preferred spot in San Francisco!

The staff was lovely. Room was clean. The walls are really thin - can hear sneezing and talking. And there is a lot of street noise. The neighborhood is really convenient for walking to Chinatown,

The emblem is a true gem. the staff from the moment we walked in until the moment we left were exceptional, friendly and accommodating. The room was very comfortable, and we loved all of the creative touches if you are looking for comfort, fun and inspiration stay here.

Loved the hotel itself and how accessible different areas of the city are. We were forewarned about the noise as it is a busy part of downtown. I think it is unavoidable wherever you go but we felt a bit unsafe at night.

The Emblem is one of the best hotel stays we’ve had. Their “unorthodox amenities” are what made the experience superior. Need an extra suitcase stand, or a fridge if you’re staying a while for those Trader Joes runs or leftovers? Maybe some white noise, or a star projector to fall asleep to? The ability to just grab an umbrella on the way out if it’s raining? They have all these things and more upon request, and always happy to provide them. Incredibly friendly and accommodating staff, and a great cafe across the lobby for coffee, and such a cozy bar/seating area. While they don’t serve food - the seating area is always available, if you bring in your own food or wake up and grab coffee at the cafe and want to have a seat - just a great place to relax between travels. The room was clean and cozy, very inviting after a long day of venturing around the city. The other great thing about this hotel is that it’s in such a great location, easy to walk anywhere, or take a trolley or an Uber to. We would highly recommend this place to anyone new visiting the city. We enjoyed it so much, if we find our way back to San Francisco, we would stay again.

This was our second stay a Hotel Emblem and once again, it was wonderful with a warm and excellent staff. We love the bonus amenities that, along with the art and vibey hotel playlists, add to the experience of this ecclectic hotel. We'll be sure to come back next time we're in the city.

Great place to stay!
Awesome hotel in the heart of San Francisco. Super friendly people, easy check in (although they do charge for early check in), great bar at night. Rooms are updated for an old building. Everything was clean and the hotel has a fun, quirky vibe. Will definitely stay again.

Cozy, clean, and books
I was looking for a boutique style hotel for a weekend getaway in Union Square and came across Hotel Emblem. It did not disappoint. The unique literary theme and coziness was amazing. I loved the quotes on the carpet in front of each of the rooms as well as the books left on the desk. We actually took one home. The ambient noise machine was a odd to begin, but after awhile we were able to tune it out completely. I will have to create another opportunity to stay there again.

Our go-to SF hotel
We absolutely loved every detail and extra amenitie that our reservation came with. Having one of my favorite cafes located next to your lobby and being able to enjoy it by the "fireplace" was a highlight. We especially felt taken care of during our check-in and check-out process by the woman who was working at the front desk.

Great spot within SF
Really nice design and features within the hotel. It is in an easy location to get around the city. It is out of the tenderloin, and walkable to the Embarcadero or north beach. The place is very clean and staff were very accommodating. Highly recommend.
