Surprising alternative in San Carlos

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Location: Check out the downtown area - only a few blocks south of the property.
Hotel San Carlos seems to be very popular with visiting tourists - and for good reason. It's quiet, comfortable and convenient. The property is older, but has been extensively (and tastefully) renovated. The only negative: breakfast was very, very basic - but plenty of other options are only a few blocks away in the downtown area. Overall, a very pleasant experience. I'd definitely stay here again!

Nothing special but a nice bed and clean room. Breakfast is minimal.

NOT A HOTEL

Posted Aug 23, 2014
This is a MOTEL, not a hotel. It's clean, and above average for a MOTEL. The pool is tiny and freezing, and is in the middle of the parking lot. The doors open on the parking lot. There is no room service or lobby area or business center. The breakfast is bad coffee, one of those waffle machines, a shelf with 3 pieces of very sad fruit, the little "pastries" that you get in a seven eleven in the little plastic bags that last for weeks... Again, nice enough for a MOTEL.

Nice Hotel close to a wide variety of things.

Posted Aug 16, 2014
Pros: Everything... there were no disappointments.
Cons: Parking was a bit tight but it was well lit, convenient, safe and free.
Location: Lots of food places, shopping and was fairly close to 101 which goes right to the Golden Gate and Piers.
Stayed here for two days while visiting San Fran and initially picked hotel based on price. It is in a very good location and was a lot more than I was expecting. Clean, safe, well equipped, good wifi and well stocked bathroom. Even had a Jacuzzi tub which was a pleasant surprise considering my back issues. I will go back here for my next visit to San Fran.

Lovely little gem in San Carlos.

Posted Aug 16, 2014
Pros: Love the location, used to live a block away. The fresh breakfast was delicious, and there be plenty of choices. The kids enjoyed the deep pool.
Cons: Perhaps some tending to the carpets and a good cleaning is in order.
Location: walking distance to the local 'shopping street', plenty of restaurants and things to do. Close to the train as well.
Truly a mom and pop hotel. This hotel has been around for decades, but it is clear the new owners are working hard to make it a great place to stay.

Thank you for staying with us. We do not charge extra for kids, extra charge are only for adults. If you did put the right age of the kids and if they are under 18 there was no charge for kids.

Clean room, very thin walls.

Posted Aug 10, 2014
Room was clean and slightly smelled of bleach. Staff was nice enough but would never stay there again. Thinnest walls of any hotel I have ever stayed in. Could hear people in other rooms breathing. The bed in our room also tilted down at the head. We had to attempt to sleep with our heads at the foot of the bed. I say attempt, because the noise from the rooms next to and above us was unbelievable. Would have left at 10:00pm and paid to stay at another hotel if I could have found one. I tried.

Sorry for the trouble but as it is the old building that's the reason you fell that the wall was thin. Hope you will give us another chance.

1 night just to sleep

Posted Aug 8, 2014
Cons: more light it was to dark
Location: in San Carlos, CA , a lot to pick from to get something to eat, and 20 min from San Francisco.
The room was clean the one I stayed in was in the back of building. Had a small window not a lot of light, the room was dark for me. my stay was okay but not worth $120.00.

Good value

Posted Jul 29, 2014
Pros: As noted above, good value overall and good experience
Cons: Add a little more protein to the breakfast options.
Location: Generally suburban neighborhood, but like much of the SF area, there's a lot more around you than is immediately evident.
Made a reservation there at a time when the chain hotels throughout the area were booked and this was a reasonable price/location. Do not regret it at all, good value for the area, pleasant and consistently clean room, good air conditioning/ventilation, felt safe leaving the window open at night, etc.
