This must have been a beautiful grand hotel at one time. Halls are quite large with high ceilings and wood paneling but they now feel old and dark. Room was clean with nice bedding but light switches were grimy and the shower's water pressure was a joke. Hotel staff at desk were not helpful. Hopefully there are better hotels for the money in San Francisco.

Historic hotel in theater district

Posted Dec 17, 2014
Pros: The historical atmosphere.
Cons: The room was cold and the electrical outlets would not work with out the lights being left on so we could not charge our cell phone.
Location: Nice restraunts are about a 10 min walk. No nice reatraunts or bars right by the hotel. The hotel restraunt is close between lunch and dinner hours.
Nice enough for a one night stay after going to the theater. Not by to many restraunts. The rooms were cold.

Great hotel at a great price in San Francisco

Posted Dec 16, 2014
Pros: Super comfortable beds, great price for a San Francisco hotel and very helpful staff.
Cons: The workout room could have an elliptical and bike and free weights.
Location: I was here for work, so not much time to explore the nearby areas.
I was very impressed with Hotel Whitcomb's rooms and staff. I was able to book for way less then surrounding hotels. Hotel Whitcomb is about a mile away from where I needed to be for my conference, and due to the wet weather, I opted to take cabs. I never had a problem having the bellhop hail me a cab. The room I was in was very clean and comfortable. The one thing I would have liked is a more fully equipped workout room, but I was at least happy there was one available to keep up with daily workouts. I would recommend this hotel as a great option for the amount you will spend to stay here.

Nice looking hotel, okay room

Posted Dec 14, 2014
The hotel was fairly nice and had a fancy lobby, however the room was lackluster. We found bed bugs in our bed and the lock on the bathroom door was broken.

Disappointing

Posted Dec 12, 2014
Cons: Improve wifi
Ok stay, but overall disappointing due to the horrible wifi(had to use my phone as a hotspot) and the uncomfortable bed. My standards for a good hotel stay when I travel for work are pretty basic - comfy bed and good wifi and unfortunately this hotel didn't do well on either. I won't be staying there again.

Old hotel with creepy corridors

Posted Dec 11, 2014
Not much staff. No bell hops or valets to greet you. Just two front desk people. Hotel looks old. Was once charming I'm sure but the location is not good as you don't feel safe walking in the neighborhood. No cabs here either. Used uber to go everywhere Also hall corridors were dark and dreary. Couldn't find the light switch once in room and finally it smelled damp and mildewy in my room. Would stay again.

Hotel was average for the price.

The room was clean and comfortable but it took to long to get hot water in the shower and the tub did not drain correctly. The hotel only has valet parking but allowes guests to leave their car until 6:00 PM after check out.

It was good, clean and nice, little bit chilly in the room. Just need more water pressure for the shower. But if you can enjoy a historical building, there wouldn't be a big problem.

A moment in time

Stylish old world charm, quiet and comfortable with a range of interiors in which to relax. Enjoying a drink at the bar or lounge at days end was a treat. fabulous location and terrific staff, courteous and helpful.
