Charming hotel in a great location.

Posted Nov 14, 2014
Pros: The helpful staff, well-appointed rooms, and breakfast and afternoon wine, cheese and fruit options were most enjoyable.
Cons: I can't think of any way to improve this great hotel!
Location: Shopping is tops in this location and the theater district is not far away.
We enjoyed a delightful stay at the Inn at Union Square last week. The ambiance and attention to detail of the hotel was obvious from the start. Ann greeted and checked us in with friendliness and helpful suggestions for sites to enjoy in the area. She offered some excellent suggestions for us to experience a delicious lunch close to the Inn. The location was perfect, in the center of Union Square. We walked across the street to see the Holiday decorations and skating rink that was set up for skaters in short sleeves and shorts enjoying the 80 degree weather. Kudos to the staff and management of the hotel with their attention to details. Our room was clean, most comfortable and well-appointed. We loved the delicious breakfast and the afternoon wine, cheese and fruit offerings. They were most welcome both before and after our busy day of touring San Francisco. Indeed, we loved our stay at the Inn at Union Square and look forward to our next trip back so we can experience this wonderful hotel again.

Friendly feel in a big city

Posted Nov 11, 2014
This was a wonderful hotel to stay in while in the city alone for a business trip. The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The Inn provided complementary water bottles and good toiletries daily. The room was kept very clean and updated as well. The sitting room on each floor was great for gathering and was used for a nightly wine and cheese happy hour. Many guests did congregate here and we ended up having a wonderful night talking and getting to know each other. The provided breakfast each morning was lovely as well. The location was in walking distance to many sights, particularly the trolley, Union Square, Chinatown, the BART, and Ferry Building. Although it was downtown, the rooms were very quiet at night. I highly recommend this inn!

A Fabulous Hotel

Posted Nov 3, 2014
Pros: everything
Location: Extremely well located next to Union Square.
Having stayed at many San Francisco hotels I can say that the Inn at Union Square was by far the best hotel I have stayed at regardless of cost. The staff, the complementary breakfast and nightly wine and cheese were well staged and wonderfully organized. I cannot say more about this small boutique hotel and will be recommending it all.

Honeymoon

Posted Oct 21, 2014
I rented this room for my granddaughter and her new husband for their wedding night. They were treated like royalty they were extreamly happy with the room, staff and respect given. They would definitely stay there again when in San francisco. I am personally pleased with the treatment given to them.

Homely hotel close to Union Square

Posted Oct 6, 2014
Pros: The staff, the room, the refreshments, the location.
Cons: I can't think of any improvements.
Location: The hotel is very close to the shops of Union Square and the start of the cable cars. It's within easy walking distance of North Beach, Chinatown, etc
Upon arrival, we were greeted like family by Ann and Angela. The other staff were just as friendly and helpful - I can't speak highly enough of them. The room (junior suite) was a good size for a San Francisco hotel, nicely decorated and very comfortable. We didn't take part in the cheese and wine evenings but there was always tea and coffee facilities on each floor with a good breakfast in the morning and cookies later on. There is a reason this is always one of the most highly rated hotels in San Francisco and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Perfect little inn in heart of SF

Posted Oct 5, 2014
Pros: Aveda toiletries, spotless clean, green hotel, delicious free benefits, close to everything, and quiet as a mouse. Absolutely loved it.
Cons: AC for hot nights would be nice.
Location: Center of downtown SF and you can walk everywhere.
If you are looking for an historic inn with charm and convenience, look no further. Free wine and cheese in the evening (and not one choice: four different wines, salamis, nuts, cheeses, crackers!), complimentary breakfast (delicious baked goods, oatmeal, juices, Peets' coffees, fruit, yogurt, delicious), no charge for bottled water in room (take that, Hilton!) and no internet charge. Wow. Parking is always expensive in SF but this inn is worth it. Gorgeous red & gold decor, could have used some AC on the hot night I was there but open window worked fine with fans. Clean, clean, clean. As a frequent business traveler I was very impressed. Lovely!

Excellent Hotel in the heart of Union Square

Posted Sep 27, 2014
The Inn at Union Square is a great hotel in a great location just off Union Square. It is spotless and clean with very comfy beds. The staff are all very friendly too. You get plenty of complimentary services such as very good WiFi, continental breakfast (which was really nice and a plentiful selection) and wine and cheese in the evening (but can't comment on this as we didn't partake due to being out exploring San Francisco). The location is fantastic for exploring the Union Square area, Chinatown and is about a 40 minute walk from the Fisherman's Wharf area. There is also plenty of public transport in the area including a cable car stop at the end of the street. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting San Francisco as it it an excellent hotel in a vibrant location but is also very quiet at night so you can sleep well following a busy day exploring the city.

Quirky hotel

Posted Sep 12, 2014
Pros: The beds, the location.
Location: Union Square is the centre of San Francisco
Don't be put off by the very narrow frontage and tiny reception - this is a lovely, quirky little hotel in a great location just off Union Square. The rooms are small but well decorated and the beds are superb - crisp white sheets, plenty of pillows, very comfortable. Rooms have a big TV and a writing table, dressing gowns, free wifi, iron, etc. I was on a business trip and the hotel was far superior to the standard American motel/business hotel experience. Rooms, including carpets and bathroom, were spotlessly clean. The staff were upbeat, friendly and helpful. The hotel is only 20ft wide: long corridors running back from the street with rooms off the corridor. Cliental seemed to be a mix of business travellers and couples on holiday.
