Small Hotel, Big ServicePosted Nov 22, 2013
Book this hotel! I came to San Francisco for a conference and by the time I tried to book my hotel, all the conference's room blocks were sold out. Even my family member, who works for a boutique hotel chain in the area, couldn't get me a room. But there were rooms left at the Inn at Union Square. And I am so glad there were. The rooms, while small, were clean, updated, and decorated nicely. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The location was perfect. Book your stay here, you won't regret it!

Awesome Hotel!Posted Nov 11, 2013
This hotel was fantastic! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone for a stay in San Fran. The staff were excellent... The girl who runs the front desk is lovely & could pass as a double for the blonde girl from 'two broke girls', she is bubbly & vibrant, & oh so so helpful. The manager was there to greet us on our arrival & was often around speaking with guests to make sure their time spent there was enjoyable. The room was beautiful & comfortable with everything we needed, & always cleaned to an extremely high standard. The hotel itself is located right on Union Square, it is convenient for shopping, catching the train, and catching the cable car down the the water. To top it off this hotel offers free breakfast, tea & coffee at all times, free wine for all guests to get together & meet each other btwn 5-7pm (& the staff would often pop in to make sure you were in enjoying yourself of if you had any questions re San Fran or if you needed anything in the hotel) & last but not least they would put out cookies each night on each floor for you to take if you wanted & they were delicious. I have been traveling the states for a month now & this hotel was bar far my favorite hotel & the place were I felt most at home.

Cozy hotel close to Union SquarePosted Oct 16, 2013
Pros: This boutique hotel had amazing charm and wonderful service. We loved the complimentary breakfast each morning as well as the wine and cheese service
Location: Easy walk to china town and little Italy. Quick trolley or cab ride to Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39. In the midst of great shopping.
Spent four nights at this wonderful hotel. Had the most comfortable beds/pillows!

Unique Hotel ExperiencePosted Oct 13, 2013
Pros: The staff was incredibly welcoming. They made you feel right at home.
Cons: We didn't really have any complaints.
Location: Location is right on the edge of Union Square and central to everything in North San Francisco. Good access to transportation.
The staff was very friendly and welcoming right from the very start. Wayne the Innkeeper was very insightful and willing to provide suggestions on places to visit in the city. This hotel is not for everyone. It has a very European Bed and Breakfast feel to it. If you want a typical hotel experience then you shouldn't stay here. This however is part of the charm. To stay in such a large and busy city and be able to forget you're right in the middle of everything is pretty neat. Wine and cheese tastings are offered every night and included as part of your stay. We only took advantage of this a few times but it was a nice touch. The location is great and central to just about everywhere you would want to walk to in the city. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking to have a unique experience in such a unique city.

Fantastic customer service!Posted Sep 27, 2013
A great location right next to Union Square within reach of all tourist areas and within walking distance of a variety of places to eat. Breakfast is provided in a central area and we took it back to our room to enjoy at our leisure. A plus was the evening wine and cheese event. After a day of sight seeing it was lovely to meet up with other guests over a glass or two of wine and enjoy a chat before heading off for dinner. Coffee and tea were available at the end of the corridor all day and the evening cookies were freshly baked. What singles this hotel out is the customer service. Wayne-the manager- provided us with maps and complimentary wine tasting tickets when he heard we were heading to the wine country and Ann at reception even helped us to the car with our luggage. Upgrade to a junior suite for a bit more room.

Excellent choicePosted Sep 24, 2013
Pros: The owner is wonderful, the staff very friendly. The breakfast and early evening reception was a great opportunity to meet other guests and share exp
Cons: nothing at all - great location and staff. The limitations are the result of the character of the building - but a wonderful ecperience
Location: The inn is right at Union Square...couldn't be better
This is our second time and we love the inn. The rooms are lovely and comfortable...the only drawback is the lack of air conditioning - honestly not normally a problem in SF, but this year was humid and warm the few days we were there.

Small is Beautiful!!Posted Sep 22, 2013
Pros: Staff, management and room service- superb!! The personal touches- free newspapers, coffee, wine and nibbles.
Cons: Nothing really!!
Location: The hotel is bang on the corner of Union Square- the shopping hub of the City, plus close to restaurants in Chinatown and North Beach.
An unimposing exterior, belies the best place to stay in San Francisco.it is a boutique hotel- 6 floors- rooms of varying size, but what makes it the best is the personal touch which you get from the management and staff. We stayed for 11 nights in September 2013 in a queen suite which the management kindly upgraded us to for free after a misunderstanding.this was a sitting room,a large bathroom and a queen bed in a bedroom with its own TV.there is a free continental breakfast provided + wine, cheese and nibbles at 5-30pm,+ coffee available + fresh cookies at 8pm. Another plus- it is bang in the Centre of town- close to all the main shops and restaurants. Brilliant!!!!

A great place to stayPosted Sep 15, 2013
Pros: The staff was fantastic. The room and location was also great.
Cons: There is no A/C so it tended to get a little warm in the room. A ceiling fan and room fan were provided and that helped a lot.
Location: Great central location. Cable car stop was at the corner. We were able to walk (although some were long walks) to almost everything we wanted to do.
Stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed every one of them. The hotel and the staff are great. The rooms were extremely clean and well decorated. It is an older hotel but so much more personal than the large chains.

Well located in the centre near shops and transporPosted Sep 7, 2013
Pros: Please see above but specifically the individual touches to the hotel. A wonderful continental breakfast, free newspaper and WiFi and wine tasting.
Cons: Nothing that I could see.
Location: It was so easy to walk to the shops, trams etc and even to Fishermans Wharf.
We only had one night but will definitely return on our next visit. Staff made us feel that our custom was important to them. Attention to detail was impeccable and the room although small was really comfortable and every amenity was thought about. I particularly liked that WiFi was free and the continental breakfast was included in the price. Also, guests were invited to participate in wine tasting each evening as well as providing coffee and tea facilities in a little parlour at the end of the corridor. I thought these touches really showed that the hotel thought about their guests and went over and beyond to make their stay as comfortable and unforgettable as they were able. I shall definitely return and would like to thank all the staff at the Inn at Union Square for being so friendly and helpful and making our stay albeit a short one, memorable.
