Nob Hill Hotel

Posted Apr 6, 2014
This is a classic hotel with an excellent central location. It's a bit dated and could use an update, but is very comfortable with top notch friendly and professional staff. Sheets, pillows and bed are high quality and very comfortable. Be aware that wi-fi costs $15 extra and also the water in room is $6.50, so go to the nice little market down Powell St and pick up your own drinks and snacks. There is a great breakfast cafe below the market (Roxanne's) that serves a delicious and reasonably priced breakfast. Try the Nob Hill Cafe for a great neighborhood Italian meal (nearby on Taylor St.).

First Class Hotel on Nob Hill

Posted Mar 30, 2014
Pros: Reason price and great location.
Cons: The beds were nothing to brag about. A little too soft for me.
Location: One block from California and Powell street Cable cars. Very convenient to public transportation and the city sites.
We upgraded to the Club level and enjoyed some excellent amenities. Staff provided the highest quality of service.

Good location

Posted Mar 27, 2014
Pros: The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff were very helpful. It was in a very nice location.
Location: The Mark Hopkins is in a very nice location. Three cable car lines are within a block. The cable car was a great way to get to Fisherman's Wharf.
We stayed at the Mark Hopkins for two nights and really enjoyed our stay. We did upgrade our room when we arrived so that we could be on a higher floor. We also got free wifi by signing up for the Intercontinental Hotel rewards package.

On the hill hard to walk to Union Square.

Posted Mar 18, 2014
It is located top of the hill so when you do not drive to Union Square, it is very hard to walk. And parking is very expensive compared to other, the bed is uncomfortable because the pillow is too soft and mattress is old so difficult to sleep. I am not choosing the hotel anymore. I

Left My Heart in SFO

Pros: Friendly staff who are helpful with any question or request. Interior are amazingly well kept up for a structure with a long history.
Cons: The in-room Internet (wire) is a bit costly.
Location: The environs - hilltop park, Grace Cathedral and the cable car line running past - are perfect. Easy to walk to Chinatown, North Beach, Russian hill.
Staying at the Mark Hopkins on historic Nob Hill is to live and breathe the history of that fabled city, especially those postwar years when American jazz was at its peak. Don't expect glitz or piled-on amenities because the ambience is tasteful and low-key and truly San Francisco. The small touches like the small white orchids in the lobby are just right, not loud or gaudy.

Such a nice respite.

We had a very difficult time with a rental car that was unsafe to drive on the hills in San Francisco. George, the concierge, was over the top helpful. He was able to get us another rental and we were able to get the unsafe car picked up! Thank you George! We also were surprised to find live music and dancing at the Top!! It was the highlight of our stay! Rooms were very nice, clean, and quiet!

Nice, noisy, nickel and dimed.

Posted Feb 6, 2014
Pros: Location. Clean.
Nice hotel in decent location. Room is small but clean. Parking was $50, but expected. Our room was in the front of the hotel over the entrance and we could hear the valet, doormen, flag pole clanking, and guests as they entered the hotel at all hours. Could also hear other guests in the hallway and their rooms quite easily. Felt nickel and dimed by being charged for wifi. Most coffee shops offer free wifi. Overall the hotel was fine, but I would try another hotel next time, or request a room in a different location.
