Fantastic HotelPosted Jul 7, 2015
The intercontinental is a beautiful hotel with lovely and very helpful staff. It's very clean and has great facilities. I was greeted with a warm welcome from the hotel staff as soon as I stepped out of the taxi. The location is great, very close to everything!

Close to everythingPosted Jul 6, 2015
Great location to go shopping, see the trolley cars, catch the bus to Fishermans Wharf, and walk to near by restaurants. Amazing staff! Friendliest concierge I've encountered! Parking is pricey and the pool quite cold but overall great hotel and I'd stay here again!

Nice hotel, great staff, near cable carsPosted Jul 5, 2015
Staff is super attentive ( be prepared with tip money) Our tub broke and maintenance was there in what seemed like 5 min. Flat. I imagine they sprinted to our room. Parking is 60$ per night but if you park behind the hotel on 5th and mission only $34. Pool is way too small for family stays (lap pool) and was always crowded.

Exceptional hotel, worth every penny.Posted Jul 5, 2015
Great hotel worth the splurge. Near convention center and stores without being on the congested side of Market Street. Took the train from the airport for $8.95 the ride is about 40 minutes. Everyone from the concierge to the bellman gave great recommendations. When to walk versus taking a cab or directions to the train. Ate at Denny's or fruit from Target around the corner for breakfast, splurged on lunch and dinners. Brenda's Soul Food is worth the wait. Check the weather before you come. It is cold in the summer. Take the cable car at off hours the line is endless during the day. Sign up for Alcatraz before you come. The tour is wonderful if you are a history buff. Walk Golden Gate bridge before 9:00pm, the bridge closes at night and they have bad signage about this. Ghiradelli has a ice cream shop near Market street that does not have the same crowds as the one near the bridge. Took wine tour from hotel it is 20 degrees warmer outside the city. Research the wineries and find out what type of wine they give for tasting. I like sweet, but they seem to have a lot of dry white and red in Napa and Sonoma. Enjoy.

A Room With A ViewPosted Jun 21, 2015
Pros: Earnest, the doorman who shuttled us, helped us find our way and gave us bottled water for our trip. He was kind, attentive and charismatic.
Location: Only a couple of blocks off of Market St and all the shopping. We ate at Umbria and the Daily Grill both a short walking distance and both excellent.
I booked a room at the intercontinental for my 60th Birthday celebration in San Francisco. We arrived early and were able to check in with the kindness of everyone at the hotel. My guest noticed a high number of security people and questioned what was going on. Turns out President Obama would be staying at the hotel that night. The hotel had left a letter in our room explaining what was going on and what they were doing to make our stay as comfortable as possible despite having to go through security check points and metal detectors. There was a perimeter set up a full block away from the entrance to the hotel. They ran golf carts back and forth to take guests in who couldn't or didn't want to walk. Every hotel employee thanked us for our patience and we appreciated all they were doing to less on inconvenience. Our room was immaculately clean, beautifully furnished and had a fantastic view of the bay. We were treated with respect, we felt to be valued customers and everything was perfect despite the limitations necessary during our stay.

San FranciscoPosted Jun 18, 2015
Enjoyed it tremendously. Walking distance to everywhere! Unsightly trash abounds but most cities in America have that, and the homeless don't help, but don't hassle you much either.

First impression was very good, until somebody opened the door of our room. It was only 10 minutes after we first open the door and two individuals opened the door with a legit card key issues by the front desk ( mistakenly). We clarified the mistake, but than our keys got cancelled and we could not open our room!!! Hotel staff admitted their stupid mistakes, and provided us with a free breakfast. Besides the two incidents, good experience.

Great locationPosted May 31, 2015
Three night stay for leisure, the hotel is located next door to convention centre and a large convention was on .... And they took over everything ... Bar, restaurant, foyer ... Which was annoying. Room Service was slow and the food was cold when it arrived. Overall the hotel was very good but not for the leisure traveller when large conventions are on.
