As San Francisco natives, we wanted a romantic, elegant and fun night away. The Hotel Monaco is fantastic. The location is of course great. The hotel manages to be both elegant and whimsical and fun. The rooms are pretty small, but their excellent design compensates. Highly recommend.

We were in San Fran for a 5 day break following a conference in another city. We had found and booked the Prescott through Expedia. The location of this hotel is amazing, and the staff are so friendly and helpful. We upgraded to a suite on the Club Level for our final 2 nights which allowed us access to the club level cocktail reception and continental breakfast. The suite itself was beautiful, spacious and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Overall, this hotel is great value for money for central San Fran, We love this hotel and will definitely return.

Hotels are a mixed bag in the Union Square area, and pleasingly this hotel is certainly amongst the best in terms of value for money and quality. Being an older building, my room was small, but well fitted out. The bed was comfortable, the room clean. The WiFi was free and performed well. Noise between rooms was a bit poorer than you'd hoped for in a hotel - but based on the age of the building not a big surprise. Certainly better than other nearby hotels!
Staff were friendly and helpful - my request to use the business centre after I'd checked out was gladly met, and service at the hotel bar was good.
The hotel is really well presented - a classic building, nicely restored. It's a place where you feel you've gone back in time (but in a good way!)
I'd definitely recommend this hotel to others.
