Leaves me wanting more, but somewhere else

Posted Jan 15, 2014
Pros: Location. Small size.
Cons: Internet speed.
We chose the Monte Cristo because of its proximity to family, and for that it was a good fit. The B&B is initially pleasing but after a few nights it is repetitive. The breakfast is tastefully presented and has lots of healthy options but seems to be opened from packaged products and put in trendy bowls. You can order eggs and such from the kitchen but that seems to be the extent of the on-site preparation. The coffee is from a pump pot but is piping hot and very tasty. The woman in charge on site is incredibly kind and accommodating. She was the bright star of the stay. The house is noisy, especially if you get the room under the stairs. The rooms have nice antique-looking furniture but less furniture would be better as it would give more room in the room. The bathroom has a bidet-like toilet seat add-on to wash your bottom. Novel, at least for us, and another feature we don't really need. The biggest disappointment was the Internet service. Wireless access is free, but you get what you pay for. The signal was weak and download speeds so slow as to be almost useless. Had to unplug the phone as it began emitting strange beeps and such. We think it was channeled through the cable for the TV and was affected by that. All-in-all we would probably try another B&B next time, at least to have a comparison.

Great neighborhood, great rooms

Posted Jan 14, 2014
Pros: Nicely appointed room. And it was quiet -- I couldn't hear the other guests and street noise was just barely audible; I slept like a log.
Location: If your budget allows, I recommend a dinner at Garibaldi's (american cuisine) just a few blocks away on Presidio.
Nice old building with modern facilities. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was tasty. Bathrooms were fully up to date (great shower head, super modern toilet). Fast WiFi with no device restrictions. I loved walking around the neighborhoods in the area.

Home away from home

Our suite was a perfect combination of 19th century antique bedroom decor with state-of-the-art bathroom fixtures. The included breakfasts offered a wide range of tasty food, including fresh melon, berries and pineapple and custom-cooked eggs. Jack, Terry and Carl couldn't have been nicer. Will return often.

Love the little treats at the end of a long work day. Close to many restaurants in walking distance. Always sleep well, very quiet, always surprised to see other guests at breakfast since I never hear them.

great except for the parking

Posted Nov 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
We enjoyed our stay at the Monte Cristo, but the parking situation is very unfortunate. With the exception of a very few unlimited spots right in front of the hotel that are always taken, everyplace else requires you to move your car every 2 hours during the day.
