Don't expect to get any sleep. There is someone from midnight to about six in the morning dumping trash in the alley and it's extremely loud. Too many other hotels to choose from for the same amount of money.

Excellent locations, shopping, restaurants, safety

I recommended this hotel a 100%, is totally safe to walk around and is very close to Union Square, to Market St. and to shop around, close to restaurants and most of all the hotel has a nice cozy atmosphere, the room is not too big but has all the amenities a hotel should have, everything is white which I loved, the cleanliness was the best, the bed and pillows were so good for a night's sleep. The breakfast was complete too. Highly recommended and will definitely stay here again....

Not as anticipated

Hotel small ,dark hallways and no air conditioning. Room had 1 quarter size bar of soap. A tabletop ironing board which had to be used over bathroom sink. Elevator from a 1920s horror flick Breakfast with very limited options however fruit was excellent but had to ask many times to have it brought out. Room was super noisy facing a busy street.

The room was very nice, very pretty and clean! The bed and pillows were amazing!!! The only thing they need to change is the breakfast, because is the same everyday. The quality is excellent, but they should change something between days.

Cons: vary the breakfasts
Location: union square, china town
Overall, a nice hotel with good character a short walk from Union Square and Chinatown. The facilities and service were good/acceptable for the most part. Breakfast was fine but exactly the same every morning; would have been nice to have at least one component vary from day to day. My window looked north into an empty courtyard full of pigeons and gave me a view of mostly bricked-up or frosted-glass windows. Not the most glamorous view, but I didn't book the room for it's view (choose the Grand Hyatt for that.) At night the music from the 2nd-floor jazz bar was loud for a few hours. This, and the lack of a desk in the room, made it less than ideal as a room for a business trip if you want to get work done in the evenings. Also, on the last morning, the elevator was having trouble (it was forgetting floor calls and making mostly empty trips while frustrated guest waited and waited and eventually took the stairs with their suitcases.) I noticed that the elevator had _just_ been inspected that day or the day before. The hotel staff apologized and had the repair company on the way, but we still had to hike a lot of floors with suitcases. Other issues notwithstanding, the decor and unique vibe were a welcome break from a long string of cookie-cutter, soulless, business-traveller oriented hotels I have stayed in before. The elevator (for most of the stay) was fun to ride because of the interesting artwork on the back mirror.
