“Can't wait to go back”
Conveniently located just a short distance from attractions such as Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Golden Gate Park, just to name a few. Also, there are a wide assortment of world-class restaurants within walking distance so parking is not an issue, and with the prices of parking garages and metered parking in the city, the free parking at the hotel is a great luxury.
“Good value for money”
We stayed 9 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean and spacious, the staff were very helpful, and the area was excellent. Public transport in SF is fantastic so I would not recommend renting a car unless you need to drive to Tahoe. The neighborhood is well out of the tenderloin area so completely safe. Great restaurants and bars on Polk St. Delicious gourmet cheese shop, Cheese Plus, on the corner. Try the grilled cheese of the day. Highly recommend the motel.
“location, location, location”
Location says it all. Asked for a kitchenette. A microwave and small refrig were in the bathroom :( ..Definitely needs an update..very dark, bed lumpy BUT great location and parking!
“Keep going back”
I've stayed here three times. Location is great, prices well below Union Square area levels, friendly service, decent sized rooms, very clean and reasonably modern. Breakfast is not great but there are plenty of alternatives nearby.
“Price and Location - Nob Hill Motor Inn”
The hotel is very old school, but not run down. The parking is free and staff is friendly. The room is comfortable and can be made very dark, which I like at a hotel. Great hotel if you want good location and price features.
“Surprised convienence”
After researching other hotels around the San Fran area, we decided to book at Nob Hill Motor Inn because of the location & FREE parking (we drove). Upon arriving to the motel late at night, it was well-lit & once we saw the property in the morning, you could tell it was clean & well maintained. If you're driving to this motel, the parking spaces are very narrow. We don't recommend a big SUV. Even for a compact car it was a tight fit. We had the King suite & most surprising was how spacious this room was. The bathroom/shower was clean/decent. Our suite had a microwave, mini-fridge (that worked exceptionally well), & small coffee pot. The room was equipped with a newer model heater/AC unit. The decor, carpet, & furnishings were outdated & worn. Our room was serviced everyday with plenty of towels and we never at a need. If you are expecting urban decor & a big hotel chain name brand, this isn't your place, but if you're looking to utilize the trolleys & Muni (bus line) during your stay, then this is a perfect spot. We walked 1 block to catch the Muni & no more than 2 blocks for the trolley. Very convenient & safe for the late night returns to the motel. There are plenty of places within walking distance to eat near the motel. I'm used to staying at high end hotel chains, but we would stay at this location again in the future.
“Full of Charm”
I stayed there solo as the summer weather was foggy and gloomy and felt perfectly at home, sipping coffee made in my bedroom and watching HBO. The desk booked the $15 shuttle for me very graciously and even called back the company to make sure everything will be fine. I stayed in a huge bedroom, with a super clean and royal bathroom and kitchen. I also loved the area. Russian-Nob Hill is a blast, full of cheap cool restaurants (don't miss the chinese Tai Chi on Polk St), cafes, organic supermarkets, great $10 manu-pedi accross the street and the very cool Russian Hill Bookstore. Conveniently at a few blocks from main buses lines and the quaint cable car.
“Much to little for what you pay”
There is really no breakfast to speak of and the parking is very tight for compact cars. My room was clean but the air conditioner vents were broken or missing. My message light was blinking from the time I walked in and they could not fix it. Nice staff.
“Affordable and Convenient Hotel in San Francisco!”
The only complaint I have is that the parking spaces are very narrow. The staff was friendly. The room was very clean and comfortable. The location was ideal. I was able to walk to the Wharf, Chinatown, and Lombard street. There is public transit near the hotel.
“Great Quality for the Price!”
Pros: You really get a great deal for what you're paying for! The rooms are well kept, comfortable, and clean. There are lots of amenities you wouldn't expect from a 2 star hotel: coffee in the room, free breakfast, FREE PARKING!! (always a plus in SF), free internet, free a/c, microwave, mini fridge, and convenient location. If your plan is to be working or touring the city( and not hanging out in a fancy hotel), then this is a great choice! Cons: The free internet wasn't working - possibly because the open network was getting too much traffic from the surrounding bldgs.. And the parking lots, although free, are really compact. Don't bring a big car!
