Very nice hotel!

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: Great staff!!
This hotel was a very pleasant surprise. It is within walking distance to Chinatown, North Beach and the Embarcadero so you are close to many fine restaurants and shopping areas. The room was on the small side, but clean and comfortable. The staff was amazing--the friendliest and most helpful I have ever encountered. The only drawback (and it would not dissuade us from staying there again) was the street noise outside. We had a room that faced the street and it was a little loud at times. Next time, we would ask for an interior room.

Great place to stay

My husband and I loved this smaller, quiet hotel with a great location near Union Square! The room was very clean and comfortable. Staff was attentive and helpful. Price was reasonable.

Quick overnight visit

Posted Aug 21, 2014
Pros: Location. Staff. Cleanliness. THE BED! The bathroom and the toiletries
Location: Right next to the Chinatown Dragon Gate. Perfect location to walk to ALL the places we wanted to visit.
We spent an overnight here after a cruise on the Star Princess. We arrived about 10 AM and although we had asked for a possible early arrival, they didn't have our room ready yet. No problem. We checked our bags then sat in the lobby to look at maps and get our bearings. Before we even got up to leave Katrina said the room was ready! We had a King Room with a view. The room was impeccably clean and plenty spacious. We were on the second floor and the view was directly across the street to the sides of other buildings and we were not very far above the heads of the folks going by on the top of the double decker buses. Street noise wasn't an issue except a car alarm went of briefly about 0530. A higher floor might have been a bit better view but now that I've seen it we'd likely not get a VIEW room next time. Location was maybe 50 feet from the Chinatown Dragon Gate. Perfect . The staff was friendly and helpful. I loved the toiletries and the bed was amazing. The crowning gem was that when our friend came to pick us up we set 5 bags of various sizes down on the sidewalk before putting them in the car. We each grabbed one or two, commented about where there was more room to stuff things, got in the car and left..leaving one of the bags on the sidewalk. 30 minutes later we got to our next destination only to realize nobody had picked up the last bag. Quick call back to the hotel and they reassured us they had it (with not contact info on it) behind the counter! We'll be back!!

Ideal central location

Posted Aug 16, 2014
Pros: Good location
Cons: Noise from the street below (better sound insulated glass required)
Location: The cable car is only a few blocks away. Breakfast at Sears fine dining two blocks away is a great way to start the day as well as Alcatraz & biking.
Despite my fears of the location the hotel these were soon disregarded when almost everything was close to hand, shopping, China Town, restaurants, cable car, coit tower etc. even Pier 39 was only a 30 minute walk. We parked the car for four days and walked every where, even to collect our bikes for a trip over Golden Gate Bridge. A must do trip, but the bridge itself can be a bit manic with pedestrians and other cyclists all over the place, still worth it though.

Great location. Close to everything. The staff is extremely helpful and responsive. The hotel is clean, quiet and has a nice rooftop garden. I would recommend this place to my friends and family.

Almost next door to Chinatown!

Posted Aug 12, 2014
Pros: Staff was VERY helpful and friendly, and it's location was ideal. Close to trolley stops, Union Square, good restaurants, and Fisherman's Warf.
Cons: Having the restaurant serve dinner.
Rooms are a little small, but everything is very clean and comfortable. It appears to be relatively new.

San Franciscans can take a lesson

Posted Aug 9, 2014
Pros: The staff above all else.
Cons: The restaurant could be better profiled. It looks a bit like a waiting room.
Location: Spitting dfistance from lower Chinatown. Great shopping and eateries nearby. Good transit available to take you anywhere if you don't want to drive.
If all san Franciscans were like Orchard Garden staff, we would have had a better time. Hotel staff were courteous, friendly, exceedingly helpful. In short, everything most San Franciscans were not. Too bad but kudos to the hotle staff and management

Great central location, near Chinatown

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Friendly and helpful staff, and a great location made this a perfect place to launch our three day exploration of San Fran. Our room was light and comfortable, though not all rooms in this hotel are. The roof terrace was a welcome space for enjoying the morning sun, and to peer down at action on the street, which included a film set on our second day. We didn't bother with breakfast here as there are more interesting places at hand.

Overpriced for what you get but good location

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Showers need replacing and given more water pressure to make them usable
Location: Near union square and next to china town
The hotel is tired and the rooms all a sickly beige colour. We weren't welcomed at reception nor asked how our stay was at check out. There is a difference between efficiency and customer service. Location is great as it is just outside china town and an short walk to union square. The showers are inadequate and gave no power meaning it takes half an hour to wash shampoo out of your hair. Mini bar was full of rusty water and bed sheets had stains on them. Our room overlooked an aircon machine. Overall we found it expensive for what it was and gave stayed in much better 3,5 star hotels in the US.
