Great hotel next to chinatownPosted Sep 20, 2014
I attended a meeting at the Moscone convention center. Orchard garden hotel was a nice, reasonably priced hotel about 10 minutes walk away. Staff was very friendly and room was clean. Excellent hotel!

Nice hotelPosted Sep 11, 2014
Location: Great location right at the gates to Chinatown and a quick walk to both Union Square or the Ferry Building.
We had a very good experience at the Orchard Garden. The room was very clean and well maintained. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were a little softer than we prefer. The only problem we had was that the minifridge barely worked. The staff was very friendly, and the valet parking was quick and convenient. The location was convenient for us to walk to a variety of places, and it's right at the gates to chinatown. The restaurant was pricy, mediocre, and only open very weird hours, but they recommended several good neighborhood places.

Clean and close to alot of attractions.Posted Sep 10, 2014
Pros: Rooms are very clean!!!and I am very fussy about that when travelling.
Cons: More inviting and fun atmosphere in the lobby and front desk !!!
Location: Close to Chinatown, Union Square, Financial District and so many other tourist attractions.
Hotel was nothing special from the outside but was super clean, bed was so comfy, loved the warm showers, Front desk clerk - Tina was fantastic, just a no fuss atmosphere. Walking distance to so many attractions. I was very impressed with this hotel and would definitely recommend it to friends and family who want a clean, fresh, comfortable place to unwind at night. Would have been nice to have a lounge downstairs for drinks and appies in the evening. Some of the staff were definitely more helpful than others and coming from a hospitality background I think the front desk is a bit cold and unwelcoming. Overall everything else was great!!

Pros: The hotel was immaculate. Everything was top notch!
Cons: Nothing comes to mind.
Location: The BART was only a couple of blocks away. China Town was just around the corner. There were many restaurants, cafés and coffee shops nearby.
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the Orchard Garden Hotel. The room and staff were excellent.

Very nice hotel!Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: Great staff!!
This hotel was a very pleasant surprise. It is within walking distance to Chinatown, North Beach and the Embarcadero so you are close to many fine restaurants and shopping areas. The room was on the small side, but clean and comfortable. The staff was amazing--the friendliest and most helpful I have ever encountered. The only drawback (and it would not dissuade us from staying there again) was the street noise outside. We had a room that faced the street and it was a little loud at times. Next time, we would ask for an interior room.

My husband and I loved this smaller, quiet hotel with a great location near Union Square! The room was very clean and comfortable. Staff was attentive and helpful. Price was reasonable.

Quick overnight visitPosted Aug 21, 2014
Pros: Location. Staff. Cleanliness. THE BED! The bathroom and the toiletries
Location: Right next to the Chinatown Dragon Gate. Perfect location to walk to ALL the places we wanted to visit.
We spent an overnight here after a cruise on the Star Princess. We arrived about 10 AM and although we had asked for a possible early arrival, they didn't have our room ready yet. No problem. We checked our bags then sat in the lobby to look at maps and get our bearings. Before we even got up to leave Katrina said the room was ready! We had a King Room with a view. The room was impeccably clean and plenty spacious. We were on the second floor and the view was directly across the street to the sides of other buildings and we were not very far above the heads of the folks going by on the top of the double decker buses. Street noise wasn't an issue except a car alarm went of briefly about 0530. A higher floor might have been a bit better view but now that I've seen it we'd likely not get a VIEW room next time. Location was maybe 50 feet from the Chinatown Dragon Gate. Perfect . The staff was friendly and helpful. I loved the toiletries and the bed was amazing. The crowning gem was that when our friend came to pick us up we set 5 bags of various sizes down on the sidewalk before putting them in the car. We each grabbed one or two, commented about where there was more room to stuff things, got in the car and left..leaving one of the bags on the sidewalk. 30 minutes later we got to our next destination only to realize nobody had picked up the last bag. Quick call back to the hotel and they reassured us they had it (with not contact info on it) behind the counter! We'll be back!!

Ideal central locationPosted Aug 16, 2014
Pros: Good location
Cons: Noise from the street below (better sound insulated glass required)
Location: The cable car is only a few blocks away. Breakfast at Sears fine dining two blocks away is a great way to start the day as well as Alcatraz & biking.
Despite my fears of the location the hotel these were soon disregarded when almost everything was close to hand, shopping, China Town, restaurants, cable car, coit tower etc. even Pier 39 was only a 30 minute walk. We parked the car for four days and walked every where, even to collect our bikes for a trip over Golden Gate Bridge. A must do trip, but the bridge itself can be a bit manic with pedestrians and other cyclists all over the place, still worth it though.
