Nice hotel with friendly and helpful staffPosted Oct 27, 2014
Pros: The friendly reception staff who were always willing to assist.
Cons: It would be more comfortable if the room was larger.
Location: The hotel is next to the gateway of China Town, many restaurants to try if one likes Asian food
We were visiting multiple cities in the United States. Due to delay of one of the flights, we were unable to get to San Francisco on schedule. The hotel manager was very understanding, and although we could not cancel the first day's accommodation in time (24 hours before), he has kindly emailed to grant us a free cancellation for that day.

Close to everything in downtown, next to chinatownPosted Oct 24, 2014
Staff are friendly, rooms are clean. I loved the rooftop view, too bad you cant see Bush street in front of the hotel, only the corner of grant and bush.

Beautiful hotel in downtown SFPosted Oct 16, 2014
Pros: Clean and comfortable rooms.
Location: A few seconds from the Dragon Gate and Chinatown, a few minutes from the financial district, Market St and Montgomery BART station.
My second stay at Orchard Garden after an excellent experience first time round. Everything was just as good as before, with friendly staff, clean and impressive interiors and a location within walking distance of everything in downtown. The rooms are small to modest in size, but well presented and the bathroom is spacious and bright. San Francisco is expensive. No getting around that. If you want to stay near downtown you have to part with a painful amount of money. Orchard Garden isn't cheap, but compares favourably with other hotels in the area and I will definitely be returning next time I'm in SF.

Cons: too many things cluttering the surfaces (mini bar items, internet and hotel literature, etc.)
Location: chinatown, Grace church, Union Square, shopping, Ferry Building shopping, Jewish Museum.

Modern hotel close to Union SquarePosted Oct 12, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff. Very clean rooms
Location: As above. Several good restaurants very close
Good location close to Union Square and the Chinese area. Very clean, well laid out rooms. Beds very comfortable. Quiet. Staff very friendly and helpful. During our stay, I was admitted, as an emergency to hospital at 1am. The staff were extremely helpful and thoughtful in helping arrange my admission. On discharge, I needed 2 or 3 days to regain strength. Our stay was extended (in the same room) with a minimum amount of fuss (and at a good rate!). Excellent good value breakfasts

First visit to San FransiscoPosted Oct 9, 2014
Pros: The hotel is not too large, so didn't have to wait to be assisted at reception.
Cons: Prefer in room fridge that you can place own items in.
Location: Easy walk to Union Square and Chinatown. We also walked from Pier 39 back to the hotel which took around 40 minutes, so not too difficult.
Good location for first time in San Fransisco. Very helpful staff.

my mother for her 80th birthday treatPosted Oct 2, 2014
Cons: Gym facilities
Location: Within walking distance to Union Square and China Town, and easy access to buses trams and BART trains
The hotel was clean and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only criticism is that the gym is a lot smaller than it looks on the website with very limited machines
