“Our second stay, great service and location. Rooms are nice”
Service was excellent both times, location is next to corner of Powell and Bush. (Trolly stops at this corner) Walk to Sears Restaurant, Union Square, China Town. Only problem is a/c goes off during night. Don't know if it is service issue or just being "green". Would stay there again.
“wonderful”
We were very satisfied with our experience. We had a little difficulty with getting our room made up one day and, with that exception, this is a wonderful hotel in a great location.
“Orchard Hotel”
Very nice property - clean and updated - but without in-room entertainment and without room-service the clean and comfortable rooms are less-than relative to other properties.
“Excellent Location”
Nice hotel. Right on a cable car line, it is a close walk to Chinatown and Union Square. About twenty minutes from North Beach. There is a fantastic French restaurant a few blocks east - Cafe de La Presse.
“Great location”
Decent hotel at an excellent location: 3 minutes to the Union Square, right on the Powell Street with the legendary cable car. Across the street to my favorite Sushi Toni and few blocks from our offices on 530 Bush St.
“Great Hotel, Excellent location!!”
I did a lot of research before I decided to choose the Orchard Hotel. The research paid off! This was a great location just steps from the gates to China town. The cable cars were just on the corner of Bush and Powell. Perfect!! We walked through China town, Little Italy (north beach), all the way to the pier the first day, which I think wasn't a bad walk at all... the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. This is a great choice for a hotel, if you find the right price, go ahead and book it! Have irish coffes at Buena Vista if you get a chance...very charming!! Must see's are Alamo Square, and Twin Peaks!! Haight-Ashbury was a gas!! Whoo hoo!! Dinner one night at The Franciscan.....excellent!! Beautiful view......
“Great hotel”
This is my favorite hotel in San Francisco. My room was immaculate and comfortable, and even though it faced the street (Bush), it was very quiet. I was most impressed that housekeeping was also unusually quiet, which is a great luxury, especially since the Orchard Hotel is used by a lot of business people, who tend to be out and about early. The people at the front desk are helpful and kind. It's very convenient from two BART/Muni stations, Powell and Montgomery, and 1.5 blocks from the Chinatown Gate.
“Real nice hotel but that hill!!”
Nob Hill... That's the one you gotta walk up to get there. But this hotel is a little gem in terms of value. The room is pretty much what you'd see in any of the 4 star Hiltons, Hyatts, Marriotts nearby. The TV isn't a flatscreen but the bathroom is better than most.
“Surprisingly pleasant”
Well, I stayed in couple of hotel in SF (Westin, Parc55, Hilton Financial District, LeMeridien) and I have to say that I was not expecting much from Orchard (I booked it because all the other options were either sold out or terribly expensive). At the end, it was quite good. The room was big and surprisingly nice (Westin & Le Meridien are of course nicer, but one would expect that), hotel location perfect. Only drawback is the view - there's none.
“Nice Hotel, but watch out for Expedia snobbiness”
This is undoubtedly a nice hotel, but we were given a room with 2 double beds instead of the King room we requested with Expedia. The woman at the counter was very snotty about our having used Expedia and their inability to guarantee our room "request." Otherwise, it was a nice experience.
