Nice hotel with traditional lookPosted Dec 3, 2013
Lovely, comfortable, crispy white linen beds. Our double standart room wasn't big or very fancy but the hotel decor all over makes up for it. We were there on Saturday night after thanksgiving. Christmas tree appeared overnight in the restaurant on Sunday morning. My boys (10 and 7) loved exploring. They went up and down the stairs 20 times and loved looking up in the ceiling.

Wonderful Thanksgiving WeekendPosted Dec 3, 2013
Pros: The Palance is a beautiful historic hotel with an outstanding friendly staff. This was my 3rd stay in 5 months.
Location: It's in walking distance to excellent dining, shopping and the Ferry Building.

DisappointingPosted Dec 1, 2013
Pros: Bar is good
Cons: Rooms are very dated, don't even have a mini bar
Confirmed my opinion that there are very few first class hotels in San Francisco

RenovationPosted Dec 1, 2013
Pros: Swimming pool
Location: Location is very convenient for downtown Sf shopping
The hotel needs a renovation both in the bedroom as well as the common area. Very poor help at entrance and bad valet parking service.

Lovely, ornate luxury hotelPosted Nov 26, 2013
Cons: Minor: carpet needs replaced, plaster corners need patched (room 245?). Staff member who refreshes free coffee needs lesson in manners/service, rude.
Location: Downtown SF, great location, plenty to do!
Staff overall very good. A level above the service you get at an ordinary hotel. I like the old luxury hotel vibe that it has, the ballroom is a sight to see!

An OK hotel but the soundproofing could be betterPosted Nov 10, 2013
Pros: Beautifully presented
Cons: Coffee and tea making facilities in the room would be a big improvement. The staff could be more attentive.
Location: The hotel is centrally located in what appeared to be a good area.
We got this hotel on special but would have been very disappointed with it if we paid the listed rack rate. This hotel is centrally located and beautifully presented but there were a few downsides. On check in there was no one to take our bags and our room was quite a hike from the lifts (which was a bit of a problem when lugging bags and a 5 month old baby). There are no tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms (something which I would definitely expect in a hotel of this quality). The concierge said that there was a complimentary tea and coffee station downstairs but that it only operated in the morning. To order tea and coffee from room service would have been exorbitantly expensive. Finally, the sound proofing between the rooms is not brilliant. We had a group of people next door to us who stayed up talking till 2am, which we could hear quite clearly (in return I'm sure that they didn't appreciate our baby crying at 5am). On the plus side, the crib we requested was in the room on our arrival and they did not charge us extra for it.

Great location mixed with Old World stylePosted Nov 5, 2013
This beautiful hotel was a perfect place to stay and enjoy our first San Francisco visit. The staff was very accommodating. The pool was larger than most, with a skylight view to enjoy while floating. I would definitely recommend The Palace to friends and family.
