“I will NEVER go back to the Presidio Inn”

There was no lock on door to #301 the office staff said someone would be there "tomorrow" to fix it. We (two sisters, without our husbands) tried to tell them it is not safe. We decided to stay at another hotel and they gave us another room. You have to get down to the office for coffee and treats before 10:00 am but the office is closed. We banged on the door until we woke him up. This hotel is so shabby, and so poorly run. We left the maid a tip, but got no toilet paper and just one towel. But just two blocks east is the Cow Hollow which is cheaper and better maintained. Next time we visit our nephew we will be staying there and saving money. Now that we know. We stayed there because we were five sisters and rented two rooms. It would have been difficult to get two rooms at that late notice and the rooms were already paid in advance.

Area recommendations
The Marina District was great. Near shopping, eating, and just walking around. We drove up to Napa Valley and did some wine tasting at "Tampa Bey" then went to an awesome restaurant called "Bottega's" the chef came to our table and talked to us. He sent us free desserts. Now how cool is that.
Shopping
We found a little shop called AMO it is next to the restaurant "Judy's" and we found some great bargains at AMO
Dining
The best breakfast was walking distant to a restaurant called "Judy's" The best lunch was at "Scoma's" we did walk, but took a cab back.

“NEVER AGAIN! NO A/C AND HAD BED BUGS”

First was the bed bugs. Found one dead one on the comforter and every night some crawling on the walls in the back of the room. Noticed the walls and linens had what I found out later would be small blood spots from smashed dead bed bugs (although linens were cleaned). No a/c so had to sleep with the windows open... which had no screens and let in mosquitoes, which thankfully was only things that bit us. Leaving the windows open also brought in a lot of street noise from the BUSY Lombard Street. Woke up at half dozen times a night to noisy trucks going by. Also, didn't help that we slept with the light on so we could keep any crawlers at bay. We would have changed hotels but everything within our price range was booked. The customer service was non existent and the so called free parking was very limited (13ish spots for 24ish rooms). Out of our four nights there we were only able to park in the lot twice but that was only because we got back to the hotel early. We did not utilize the free breakfast as it appeared to just be juice, coffee and toast and there was no where to sit but a dirty couch. Upon check in, the clerk was not friendly. He was complaining he had a long day and wanted to go home. Never once asked about us our explained the hotel (where is elevator, when is breakfast or even say "glad your staying with us"). When we got to our room only one of our key cards worked. I strongly do not recommend this hotel & will not stay there again!

Area recommendations
I would recommend checking out all San Francisco's 15ish districts. They all have something to offer. From the independent restaurants to the one of a kinda stores. I found in Haight Ashbury two awesome stores, one that sold re purposed items like forks turned into jewelry and a vintage resale shop. The Ferry Buildings shops are another thing I would recommend. One of the best things we did was utilize the city tours, which are run by volunteers. They have about 90 tours running daily through out the city. This trip we were only able to do the hour long tour of the Ferry Building by a very knowledgeable native. My last recommendation for baseball fans is to catch a game in AT&T Park . I think it ranks up there for me with Wrigley Field.

“Clean and Remodel! PLEASE”

The staff was very nice. The room, however, was disgusting. The carpet was filthy. The pillows were yellow with stains. The bathtub was dirty and had moldy grout. The tile floor was equally gross. We asked for clean pillows and the young man at the desk brought us new pillows (in unopened packages) We slept on top of the bed and did not stay the second night.

“Try too avoid.”

If you are on a tight budget, then this may be somewhere to stay. The place is run down and needs a major uplift. On a positive note, the surrounding neighbourhood was nice with some great restaurants and coffee shops. The front staff were helpful and there is a great view from the top balcony of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and the bay.

“This place was really creepy!”

Offered only 6 parking spots- all of which were not meant for any big vehicle such as the cargo van I was driving. Noisy location. Th room was old and furniture was severly stained. The bathroom reaked of urine... we didn't even shower before we left. The faster we got ourselves out of there, the better. No air conditioning. Gross!

“Standard hotel”

It's a standard hotel where you can stay a couple of nights. Location is not the best but it is not that bad either.

“Won't reccomend”

Couldn't get internet working and office staff couldn't help. Room smelt, no extra toilet paper, staff didn't know much about neighborhood. Location was great.

Area recommendations
Take the second right after you drive over the Golden Gate Bridge, and drive all the way around to the water. Better view there without all the crowds. Check out Coit Point and Peir 39.

“I would never go back”

It was dirty and scuzzy. Paper thin walls and NO PARKING. They only had 4 spots to park in and they were coned off so you couldn't use them....... I'd recommend spending the extra couple dollars ($30) and stay down at fisherman's wharf in a nicer hotels and location. Not in such "if'y" area.

Area recommendations
Fisherman's wharf is where I'd recommend to stay. Great location for catching tours and sightseeing.
Must see
Make sure you go visit Alcatraz and book in advance!! So worth it!

“Great location”

The motel staff was FABULOUS...very willing to help us out. We arrived before check in and had numerous bags. They graciously kept them safe for us until our return...9 hours later. FREE parking and continental breakfast. Price was reasonable and we will definitely stay there again. Again, the staff was GREAT!

“bed bugs”

First, the hotel manager sent us across the street to the days inn. He did this because he said there was a problem at the Presidio. At the Days Inn we had bed bugs and they did not seem to care. Also while we were in our room, they booked it to another and sent that guest to our with a key. He walked in before he realized it was stilled booked to us. But the main complaint was that it had bed bugs, and they did not seem to care.
