Major Renovations in progress

Posted May 21, 2015
Pros: staff and location was great for Fishreman;s wharf
Cons: give reduced rates while renovating
Location: Fisherman's wharf, wax museum, AT&T stadium, hop on hop off bus, Ghiardelli
Hotel is undergoing MAJOR renovations. Might be nice when complete, but right now hotel is not comfortable. Dumpsters, scaffolding, workers, port s johns everywhere. Elevators often out of service, guests use service elevators. Room was clean, but not well appointed. No towel racks in bathroom, funky metal vanity, no place to put toiletries or hand a towel for reuse. Hotel staff were great, very apologetic and helpful. No pool, bar, restaurant.

Excellent location but under remodel

Posted May 21, 2015
We had to call to find out where to park and register. There is scaffolding all over the front of the hotel on Beach Street and it was not obvious. Our room had a very nice view past the parking lot. We could see Alcatraz and the pier. Our beds were very comfortable. The remodeled bathroom has a pedestal sink which is unfortunate because there is no place to put toiletries and the towels were kept in a wardrobe in the main room. There was one hook by the tub for one towel. Perhaps it is not completely set up yet. We never watched TV and there was free WiFi which we appreciated. It did cost to park but we decided it was worth it for the convenience of having our rental car being close to our room and we could have gone in and out of the parking lot at will but we were so close to everything that we walked everywhere. I would not have paid full price to stay in this hotel. It is undergoing a name change along with the remodel. I think when it is finished and has a lobby and some amenities it will be quite nice. If you want to be close to the action along the pier and are mostly only going to sleep at the hotel than it serves its purpose well. If you are looking for a place to mingle with other guests down in the lobby, there isn't one. It is still very much a work in progress. It is right next to IHop and we enjoyed the convenience of eating breakfast there the two days we stayed in the hotel. I would definitely stay here again when I go to San Francisco, it was worth it.

It's not bad. But the elevator is really slow, we wait about 5 minute to catch the elevator from the third floor to the first. The room is clean and comfort, the location is really good.

Spent 1 night in San Francisco. Hotel is across the street from and midway between Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39. Hotel is being renovated and we stayed in one of the renovated rooms which was very, very nice!

Perfect location

Posted May 19, 2015
Pros: Location location location
Cons: Tried contacting the hotel to see if any balcony rooms were available and no response which was very disappointing since it was our 1st time visiting
Location: The location could not be more perfect, so many things to do in a few steps away
perfect location, had a renovated room which was nice

Hotel bien ubicado y agradable

Posted May 19, 2015

Great location to transport and Fisherman's wharf

Posted May 19, 2015
Pros: Location, location, location. John, bellman, is a treasure- very pleasant and helpful Room was spacious
Cons: Bathroom facilities - towel hooks, shelf for toiletries, safety bar for the tub. Once the renovation are completed the hotel will be stunning.
Location: Fisherman's wharf Pier 39 just a couple of blocks away. 2 Cable car terminals very close by, plus the trolleys. Boudins just over a block away
Hotel is under renovations at the moment, but we didn't have any noise problems. Had to use the service elevator to get to our room, and the lobby is makeshift at the moment, but the room was spacious and clean and newly renovated.Bathroom could do with some towel hooks and shelving for toiletries, also a safety bar for the tub would be helpful for older folks.

Construction zone!

Posted May 18, 2015
Pros: great location
Cons: a lot of money for a construction zone; "lounge" while waiting for rooms to be ready only had seating for 4 adults; add more plus kids: not good.
While the location is great, the hotel is under construction - on the top floor, activities on the roof sounded like they were about to come through into our room. Bathroom vent not properly affixed so flapping in the wind all night. The staff (who were great) have been putting up with this for 6 months; apparently it will change hands to another chain (Zephyr?) in June.
