Not trying to be what they are not

Posted Jan 20, 2015
Pros: Inexpensive.
Cons: New bedding.
Location: People traveling on a budget looking for a place close to down town. I would not recommend for families.
Trying to review this place for what it is, not what it is not. This is a efficiency hotel in a 100+ year old building that is showing its age. This is not a modern, beautiful hotel with ample guest rooms and designed-in amenities. But the thing is, it's not trying to be. The room was on the small side had mismatched furniture and a view of an air shaft. There was no conditioning but the windows opened fully. While showing its age and utilitarian approach, the hotel inside did not look neglected. The room had a all mounted flat-screen a fridge and microwave. The staff was totally pleasant and the other guests were normal travelers. You are in the Tenderloin district so the neighborhood is definitely sketchy - Walking 3 blocks up Larkin and things start to pick up. Overall it felt like some hotels in Europe - An old place run by people with good intent for a good price. If I was to judge this place by modern standards it would be lacking, but for what it is, it was fine. Being a business traveler I booked at the last minute when other area hotels were full. I was surprised when I first arrived and very sensitive to the details but over my 3 day stay it normalized into what it was. I would not likely choose this hotel again over other places but in a pinch when the city was booked it turned out fine.

Stay here only as a last resort.

Posted Jan 20, 2015
Pros: Staff only
Cons: needs a complete remodel.
Location: close to the business district
Stay here only as a last resort. Hotel staff was very accommodating. There were several conferences going on in San Francisco and couldn't find a hotel. Received an e-mail from Expedia of rooms available in San Francisco and booked this room.

Pretty meh

Rooms carry noise so you will hear your neighbours. The neighbourhood is sketchy, with obvious drug deals happening at the bus stop. The parking service is weird. That said, it is close to lots of the core of SF. If comfort is important to you, avoid. If proximity to downtown is, you may be able to overlook the crappiness.

Great last minuet find

My friends and I had made a day trip to Santa Cruz. After having fun all day, we decided to extend the trip and find a place to stay for the night. This place was perfect. Easy to make reservation, exceptionally friendly staff, quick check-in/out, wifi, breakfast, and it was close to everything without being noisy. I would certainly stay here again.

Comfy place to sleep without high pricetag

This place gives everything you need to vaca in San Francisco without the high price tag. Close to everything, either by public transit or walking. Provide wifi and free breakfast. (Just keep in mind, parking is extra charge as a valet company provides the service). Close to Civic Center. Nice comfortable room and provides what you need, a quiet comfortable place to sleep. Would definitely recommend.
