Wonderful Classic HotelPosted Feb 27, 2015
Located Close to Pier. Make sure you visit the Italian Restaurant next door. I slept comfortably with my windows open. I will return again and again. I imagine going back in time traveling to the 1910-1920's San Francisco. (except for the blazing fast wifi). :)

wonderful place - travel in time ...Posted Feb 23, 2015
Pros: Everything: ambiance, silence, massage chairs, attitude of the staff, small attentions and last but not least : no TV :)
Location: Close to the Piers for the bay / Alcatraz / islands etc., the sea border, bus 30 to downtown, nice café nearby for breakfast.
Victorian style, fully renovated hotel. I felt like traveling in time to the lasts centuries ...

雰囲気の良いホテルPosted Feb 18, 2015

Charming!Posted Feb 16, 2015
Like a big, warm San Francisco hug! Quaint and charming with a courteous, young and friendly staff. The San Remo gives you a feel for old San Francisco, yet it is only a few blocks from the hub of Fisherman's Wharf and all that is new! 100% recommended.

Charming old hotel small rooms, big heartsPosted Feb 12, 2015
Pros: I loved the style of the hotel, the awesome staff and being in the heart of everything. We were able to walk to all the big tourist locations.
Cons: I wouldn't change a thing. I loved it all.
Location: Fishermans wharf Pier 39 The Painted Ladys Lombard Street Chinatown Cable Car Museum Rogue Brewerie etc.
In a nutshell: If you can embrace the smaller rooms the potential noise and the community feel of this beautiful hotel you will love your stay. This hotel has style. It's like stepping back in time to the roaring 20's. Because the building was created in the age before sound insulation was a common practice in buildings you can hear noises from out on the street or the restaurant below the hotel rooms. Also the rooms have ceiling fans and windows but they do not have A/C. I am fortunate enough to be a deep sleeper and enjoyed the festive atmosphere and enjoyed my stay. (It should be noted that they do supply ear plugs btw) The staff are very professional and the bathrooms and showers were very clean I made a point to check on this regularly. I would like to note that although the staff is extraordinary at the upkeep the showers and sink/bathrooms are a community space and sometimes careless or messy guests can ruin the experience for everyone on your floor. Lets be frank about this hotel the rooms are very small (APPROX) 20 by 20 rooms. Often the room will be furnished with a wardrobe or dresser to hold your clothing. The sizes of room are good for singles or couples not big families.

Fair commentPosted Feb 7, 2015
Pros: Cleanliness, location, restaurant downstairs, thought this was closed by the time we checked in at 9.30 p.m.
Cons: A couple of comfortable chairs in the hallway would have been nice.
Location: Biking over the Golden Gate Bridge on a tandem was a really great experience and Marin is beautiful. Alcatraz was very interesting - wrap up warm!
Room was very cramped for us because we are on a long trip with two big cases and I think the room we got was one of the smallest. Guests need to be aware that "bathrooms" are actually only shower rooms. There is nowhere else private to wash unless you book a room with basin. The hotel is in a quiet location (or we found it so) but it's down to the other residents' considerateness as to whether you get any sleep or not - I didn't! We had very noisy neighbours who spent the whole of one night packing and unpacking, thumping cases about and talking loudly and were kept awake the first night by general comings and goings. Bed was comfortable. Would think rooms by toilets and shower rooms would be very noisy, due to fans going all night. Management should put signs up asking residents to turn the lights (and their accompanying fans) off after using the loo or shower - apart from anything else it's very wasteful. Still, good value for its location at S.F. prices.

If you love clean funk -- it is the placePosted Jan 27, 2015
Really love the pesionne European style. If you looking to the Hilton - this ain't it. If you are looking for cool, low cost lodging with a cutting Ashe of the 60's - this is your place.
