One Night Before our Cruise with Princess

Posted Mar 24, 2015
Pros: If you like historic old world charm, in a community style type living arrangement - then you will love San Remo.
Cons: Having popcorn available, for your room
Location: Very close to local attractions, we walked every where. steps from Fisherman's Wharf.
I thought it would be fun to stay at San Remo as it looked funky. It was. I loved it. It is a quaint, old hotel, that has a very unique style. Similar to staying in a University during the summer months. I was with my 15 year old daughter, we felt safe. Before 9 pm it was quite rowdy outside our window on the street, but it all quieted down by 11 pm. The room was small, we shared a double bed. It was clean. We ate at the restaurant at the Hotel, it was quite fancy. We had Wifi, in our room, so we watched netflix on our Iphones. They offer free coffee, hot chocolate, tea or hot water. They will carry your luggage upstairs if you need help, as there is no elevator.

Small room, but very clean. Extremely helpful staff. Nice decor ~ you could spend several hours checking out the antiques. I will stay again....

Good location for seeing the city

Posted Mar 14, 2015
Pros: Cost and location.
Cons: Not something I have thought about.
Location: As stated earlier - good location. The water front is close as is China town. Buses available for going anywhere one might want to go.
The hotel was located well for both walking to the city sites and getting down to the location to catch the Big Bus for their 20 available site seeing stops to get done in two days. Common bath room was a new experience. I'm glad my room had a sink so I could brush my teeth in privacy. I would suggest the staff have the coffee available a bit earlier in the morning.

We are in a wonderful location for the City Buses or Big Bus as well as for walking to many attractions. We know we are a different kind of Hotel, our bathroom layout is very common in Europe, but somewhat unusual for the USA. Thank you for your suggestion, we always try to incorporate them if possible. Hope to see you soon again.

Perfect location, and so much charm!

We stayed at the San Remo for 6 nights. The hotel is right in North Beach, with a 7 minute walk to Fisherman's Pier. We were able to get in the Hop On, Hop Off bus right at the end of the street. The hotel is absolutely fascinating, with all it's little nooks and crannies, and there's a lot to explore within the hotel. The hotel had a lot of small features that really made our stay feel like a treat, like the heated shower stalls and towel warmers, the generous tea selection by the front desk, the boxes of raisins left in our room, and the massage chair and book selection in the window nook. The rooms and hallways are tiny, so for that reason I wouldn't recommend the hotel to anyone travelling with children or a lot of luggage. I never found the communal bathrooms to be a problem. They were always impeccably clean and since there are so many spread out among the rooms there's never a need to wait. I would absolutely recommend this hotel for anyone who wants a unique experience beyond the typical chain hotel, and who appreciates a little history with their stay.

We appreciate your comments about our hotel. All of us are here to provide the best experience possible for our guests, while keeping our hotel historic and authentic. You are right, our rooms are on the smallish side, so we don't recommend bringing the "steamer trunk". We are glad that you enjoyed our massage chairs. Thank you again, and we look forward to serving you in the future.

Wonderful Classic Hotel

Posted Feb 27, 2015
Located Close to Pier. Make sure you visit the Italian Restaurant next door. I slept comfortably with my windows open. I will return again and again. I imagine going back in time traveling to the 1910-1920's San Francisco. (except for the blazing fast wifi). :)

We appreciate you taking time to review the San Remo Hotel. The San Remo Hotel was built in 1906. The hotel is decorated with very special artwork and furnishings. We love maintaining the look of the Victorian period, while trying to bring in modern necessities such as our complimentary Internet and free WI-FI. Thank you for staying with us.

Charming!

Posted Feb 16, 2015
Pros: Everything!
Like a big, warm San Francisco hug! Quaint and charming with a courteous, young and friendly staff. The San Remo gives you a feel for old San Francisco, yet it is only a few blocks from the hub of Fisherman's Wharf and all that is new! 100% recommended.
