Great location in Union Square.

Posted Jul 5, 2015
This hotel is perfectly located for your first trip to San Francisco and is great value for money. We kindly had our room upgraded at check-in and had great views of the city. Yes - there is some noise from the city and cable cars but we expected this from a centrally located hotel. The hotel staff were great and the complimentary wine daily was a lovely touch. The hotel is quite dated but this this added to an authentic San Fran experience.

Comfortable Rooms, Jaw Dropping Lobby

Posted Jun 26, 2015
This hotel is a gem. It is in a convenient location, the rooms are comfortable and the decor is spectacular. I have two complaints, however: our third story room had small, high windows that stared directly at a wall making the room feel claustrophobic, and the bouncer who was the gate keeper at the lounge took his job too seriously. We watched him turn away a group of 60 year olds who didn't have their ID but not before going on a bizarre rhetorical rant about what the purpose of ID was. A real turn off and tainted our otherwise warm fuzzy feelings about the hotel.

Nice hotel

Posted Jun 26, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Add a place for toiletries in the bathroom.
Location: It was a great location. Close to retail store and many restaurants.
Very pleased with the hotel. I rated the room a 4 instead of a 5 because it was a little small but over all it was comfortable. Hotel is located in a great location. Would stay again.

Very nice room and happily an upgrade.

Posted Jun 23, 2015
Pros: Convenience to Union Square, dining and shopping.
Cons: Rearrange the furniture and more accessible plug ins (my husband uses a Cpap at night and light had to be unplugged to use it the breathing machine.
Location: Union Square has amazing stores and entertaining performers and artists.
Nice room, but furniture arrangement was not great--closet was a very tight squeeze (you really had to climb over a bed to access it)!

Dear Sayre, I appreciate your comment about the furniture arrangement. I am not certain which you room you stayed, but we always welcome any suggestion! I'm happy to hear you liked our room otherwise. Cheers, Jim Gross, General Manager

Good location

Posted Jun 18, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Signature hotel paper head and pen would be nice for the price we paid for the room. Should provide some breakfast: fruit, Danish or muffins with cof.
Location: Shopping
The room was smell muddy upon walk in to the room. Very small and not much else only basic. No paper pad nor pen available. No light in closet and wire hanging inside.

Dear Guest, Thank you for bringing your experience to my attention. Indeed, it seems like it was our oversight in not placing a pad and a pen. Although, it sounds like a wire hanger was left from the previous guest, it should've been removed by our housekeeping crew. For that I am sorry for the inconvenience. Great location, poor quality for cost

Posted Jun 15, 2015
Bathrooms are very tiny and have no fans so they feel dirty. Basically zero amenities. Staff are friendly but seem incapable of comprehending things - had to call down three separate times for milk for our coffee (they kept bringing us more coffee instead). Had to ask for things that are normally standard for hotel rooms that are upwards of $300/night - coffee maker in room, robes, etc. Overall it was beautiful on the outside and in the lobby but way too expensive for subpar rooms and service and I wouldn't stay there again.

Dear Guest, Yikes, I am disappointed to learn that we could not 'wow' you on your recent stay with us. Please know that as part of the Kimpton hotels, we provide daily complimentary coffee/tea service in the lobby every morning. Additionally, there are items that can be brought up on request. However, it is not excusable that our room service staff brought you a wrong item 3 times; for that I am sorry for your incovenience. Regards, Jim Gross, General Manager

Save this one for an expense account

Posted Jun 13, 2015
Pros: Lobby was beautiful -- but never used it much.
Cons: The restaurant was terrible -- overpriced and not good food. Starlight room was nice to visit
Location: Cable car and chinatown close by
I am really disappointed in myself that I booked this place --- It was too expensive -- this should be saved for a business trip. On vacation you are out and about mostly so the room does not matter. The room was so small -- why do they give you a yoga mat -- ? there is no floor space to put it out !!!!. Good location but that is about all -- wish I would have booked something more unique.

Dear Nancy, First off, thank you for staying with us. I certainly understand that everyone wants to spend less than more, but please keep in mind that our rate is very very compatible to other similar hotels in the same area. As for our rooms, please know that the Drake is a 1928 historic building that went under a renovation in 2011: some rooms are cozy for a single traveler whilst other rooms are big enough to accommodate a family comfortably. We hope you enjoyed our location and spent time exploring this wonderful city. Cheers, Jim Gross, General Manager
