Pleasant stayPosted Feb 24, 2014
Cons: I think that it should be improved noise of air conditioning of the room.
All staff is kind, the atmosphere of the hotel is also good.

Great Hotel in Redwood CityPosted Feb 24, 2014
I've stayed at this particular Sofitel at least 20 times so that should say something. The staff is always very friendly and the macaroons in the room are a nice touch. The bar makes lots of tasty drinks and the pastries/bread aren't to be missed. The hotel is located away from SFO so if you're looking for a hotel in the city with lots of action this isn't the hotel for you. My only real complaint is that they started charging for parking within the past year so that adds up quickly. Outside of that I will continue to stay here as the weekend rates are very competitive for what you get.

Comfortable and relaxing stay!Posted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: Pretty much everything - the room was quiet, comfortable and perfect for us to relax and enjoy.
Cons: We definitely could have done without the snooty attitude when checking in.
Location: The hotel is about 25 mins south of downtown San Francisco, so if you're going for those attractions, expect a drive.
We decided on a last minute Valentine's weekend trip to San Francisco, and rather than staying in the city for more than twice the price and triple the parking, we decided to stay here and drive up to the city over the weekend. Aside from an annoyingly snooty employee at check-in who had trouble locating our reservation, everything else was PERFECT. The hotel is easy to find, the employees (aside from the one exception) were friendly, professional and eager to help, and overall our stay was a pleasure. The rooms are comfortable and clean, great beds, lots of pillows, cozy little sitting area and clean, large bathroom. The restaurant looks lovely, and has live jazz (at least on the nights we stayed), and we would have loved to try it but the Valentine's prix fixe menu wasn't to our taste and was being served both nights we stayed, so we skipped it. Room service was delicious, with enough variety on the menu to accommodate many tastes, and attention to detail was fantastic. While the location might not be for everyone, it worked perfectly for us, and the convenience of the coffee shop/bakery in the lobby was nice too. One bummer, housekeeping didn't come to clean our room during our stay, we left the room at 11 and got back in the evening to find everything a mess. That said, it was a busy weekend, and when we called for extra towels/coffee supplies, their response was great. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider staying here again.

Definitely NOT an airport hotel!Posted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: Good service
Location: Located in an office park with nothing of note close by!
Hotel is nice, but it advertises itself as an airport hotel. Not sure how it gets away with that as it is at least 20 minutes (and a $45 cab ride) from the San Francisco Airport!

Great Business Hotel that works well for pleasure.Posted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: Hotel staff were very attentive and the place was immaculate.
Cons: The room could have been quieter. I actually heard someone snoring and could hear the elevator.
Location: Went to Half Moon Bay and went on a couple of hikes in the area.
Looking for a nice hotel for the holiday weekend. Hotels closer to the coast were far more expensive. We had to travel a little more to get to Half Moon Bay but it was worth it.

top notchPosted Feb 16, 2014
Pros: The bed was to die for and the staff wonderful
Location: I used to live in the area so mostly I visited the mall and friends. There are many wonderful restaurants on Laurel St a short driving distance away.
I was so impressed by the way the staff treated myself and my dogs. There were toys and treats left at our door and the staff and doormen were all very helpful and friendly at all times.

French hotel on murky lagoonPosted Jan 14, 2014
Pros: It really is beautiful and the rooms are big.
Cons: Read my experiences for suggestions
Location: Surrounded by office buildings. Obviously, there is much to do in San Francisco which isn't too far.
This hotel is immediately impressive, but the joy fades. Everything is pristine, including the room. 2 topics of disappointment -- The restaurant is expensive and the service is so slow I found it unbelievable. Must be the French way. We had a "lagoon view" room, with only a peek view if you stand at the far end of one window. There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom (I thought codes required either a fan or a window). There are comforters with duvets on the bed and no top sheet. Despite turning the thermostat way down, I was too hot with the comforter and too cold with nothing. And the soundproofing must be non-existent; I could hear door slams and conversations and toilets flushing at night. Needless to say, I would never stay there again unless they make some soundproofing renovations, put an exhaust fan in the bathroom, and a top sheet on the bed. And, housekeeping did not turn off previous tenant's alarm on the clock radio so I was awakened at 6am on Saturday.
