Very romantic! Great location!Posted Nov 17, 2013
The steinhart was located in the trendy Nob Hill district. Steps from the front door of the hotel were incredible little restaurants/ bars. (Sweet woodruff is incredible and Sanraku is also delicious) We pretty much walked everywhere and used the muni rail or lyft. Not once did we have any problems Getting anywhere. The hotel is located on sutter near Hyde street. The trolley cars run all the way from the wharf on Hyde until two blocks from the hotel which was perfect! We came here for our honeymoon and cannot wait to return soon!

Warm and inviting Palatial retreatPosted Oct 18, 2013
Highly recommend Steinhart Hotel and Apartments for their warm and helpful reception and for the beautiful spacious and well detailed apartments. The bedrooms are very large and quiet. The living spaces are very thoughtfully decorated - drawing on the heritage of the Steinhart building but not over complicating the spaces. We loved staying here!

Lovely old school hotel/apartment.Posted Oct 18, 2013
Pros: The building, the staff, the presence of a kitchen
Location: 'Tendernob'.Only a few blocks away from the Tenderloin and Nob Hill. Close to Union Square. Good position if youre on a budget(!) and like walking.
The reason I chose it was really on price and the fact it had a kitchen.I booked it before really checking the location and distance from my conference. When I had checked it , then read about SF, I thought I'd got myself smack bang in the middle of the Tenderloin.WRONG. They call this area 'Tendernob'-seriously ( Tenderloin, Nob Hill). I loved the original features, including the bed which came out of the wall. The apartment had been recently (i'd say 5 years or so) been renovated so everything was fine. Gets serviced once a week, or more ( for a fee) if youre dirty! Staff were all extremely helpful and courteous. As my conference was at the Moscone Centre, it was about a 20 min walk each way, BUT for just wondering around , it was in a great location, far enough from Union Square to avoid the throngs of people. My room was towards the back of the building ( 405) and was quiet. The ones at the front get the sun but also the noise from Sutter St.

Very comfortable apartment in excellent locationPosted Oct 6, 2013
Pros: The hotel has a lot of character, but modern comforts aren't compromised. Our one-bed apartment was clean, comfortable and spacious.
The staff were very helpful and friendly, the location was perfect for exploring San Francisco and there were convenient food markets and restaurants close by.

Old Hotel With Lots of CharacterPosted Sep 18, 2013
Pros: Location, staff, value.
Location: Close to Union Square, transportation, and Nob Hill
I just completed a week at The Steinhart. It was a completely pleasant experience. The location is convenient to Union Square and Nob Hill. Transportation is readily available. The hotel is over 100 years old, but very well preserved and maintained. It was really nice to have a full kitchen including a dishwasher. The young staff was always helpful and made my stay very easy. I had a back room over the courtyard, which was quiet and peaceful. I imagine the rooms on busy Sutter Street was not nearly as quiet. The value for the price at The Steinhart is high.

Fantastic stayPosted Aug 30, 2013
Pros: The bed is amazing. The layout of the room is second to none. The hotel staff are knowledgeable and friendly and always able to help.
Cons: The only mirror in the bathroom. At 6ft I had to constantly bend down to see where I was shaving. Not the biggest complaint and one worth forgetting.
Location: Be prepared to walk. Union Square is a short stroll away however anything else is a cab or transport.... But that is san Francisco.
What a pleasant gem of a hotel. Take a step back in time with the old world charms of this great hotel. It has the style and grace of the early 1900s with the finer things of today. At the price offered and with the quality of the room you can not go wrong.

A just OK placePosted Aug 6, 2013
Location: only just a reasonably good location.
Organised via expedia so discount applied and I got a room on ground floor - it was noisy and only just OK. Room was attended to weekly only which was disappointing for a hotel. I needed an extra night and the hotel took full advantage and charged a lot of money for that night; very disappointing.

Pros: Staff Building Staff Location Security Comfortable bed
Cons: A few more items of kitchen equipment.
Location: Great location
Great welcome on arrival from friendly, helpful staff. The building is full of character and the appartment was spacious and very clean. Well located, uphill from Union Square, and within short walking distances of public transport. Really enjoyed our stay there and would certainly stay again.

Close to everything, a little old but for me the most important is to stay close to everything.
