“Great Central San Francisco Location”

“Stratford Hotel: an excellent and cheap option”

I'm from Mexico City and was for four days at San Francisco. I stayed at the Stratford Hotel and it was a great experience!!! The attention is excellent, the rooms are great and the only inconvenient I could mention, is that Powell Street is very noisy all the time, but the advantages is that you are located in the middle of everything, just a block from Union Square and you can take the famous cable car outside the hotel. It is an excellent option.

“Location location location.”

Complimentary breakfast... you get what you pay for. Coffee terrible, pastries and cereal very minimal. Fortunately, there are nearby restaurants and a Starbucks. Wireless internet service was more akin to dial up 2400bps rate from the early 90s. Location is great. Room was clean but snug; motivates you to explore the city. Recommending only if traveling by yourself. If traveling with others, do not recommend.

Getting there

Cab fare from SFO to the city went up a lot since I last went there. Recommend using BART/CalTrain to get into city if staying near Union Sq. and traveling by yourself or with one person and without a lot of luggage.

“Not plush but nice”

This hotel is not a plush hotel. The rooms are small but clean but you are in San Francisco, are you really going to stay in your room. Great location! Walk out the door you are at a Powell Trolley stop, Union Square, and great places to eat. Elevator is slow. Try to get a room on the lower floor.

“Perfect for my needs”

I was in San Francisco for an athletic event that has 22,000 participants and wanted a clean place to sleep near the start. This hotel definitely worked. It was a decent hotel for the price, which was half of what most hotels were charging. The front desk was very helpful and polite, despite the high volume of people they had to handle at one time. My room was small but very clean. I was pleased overall with my experience here and will probably use the hotel again next year.

Area recommendations

It's all very interesting, but don't drive! Park and take public transportation to keep your sanity!

“EXCELLENT VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY”

This is not a 4 star hotel and it doesn't proclaim to be, If you're expecting those amenities, keep looking. However, if you're looking for a clean & comfortable place to stay while visiting San Francisco I would recommend this one to anyone. The location is second to none. You can catch the cable car outside the hotel or walk just a couple blocks for the bus. Great shopping is also within walking distance. Since we preferred to spend our money on site seeing and wonderful food, the Stratford Hotel provided us with a great place to stay while not breaking the bank!

“too expensive, but great location”

This hotel is in the heart of sf, but not worth the price. The rooms are so tiny, and the walls are thin. For the price, I expected the hotel to be a little more upgraded than they show on the internet. Overall, the location was excellent. If you get a room, facing the street, you will be woken up by the cable cars and city activity, I suggest you ask for a side or back room for a more comfortable experience.

“Best location”

I'll stay in Stratford again if I visit San Francisco. excellent locations, kindly staff, very clean, free small brekfast (coffe,tea,bread, cereal,fruit...enought), Only very small rooms but we will stay here again.they give us a place to put our luggage after checking out, because our plane departs at 5 pm. Recomend to have a ciopino at Ciopinos at Fisherman Wharf.

“Great Location”

The hotel was in a great location for a great price. The room was small but comfortable. I loved being able to walk everywhere. Will definitely be back.
