Lovely in every way

The staff are professional. The food is great. We had a clean spacious room and enjoyed drinks in the lobby area. We would recommend the fairmont to anyone wanting a comfortable San Fran stay.

Glad we stayed here.

Pros: The whole experience is worthwhile, staff are so friendly and helpful nothing a problem for them, made you feel welcome and the ambience of the hotel.
Cons: Cannot really think of anything at all.
Location: Everything is virtually on the doorstep, Chinatown did nothing for us, very seedy and give your money and leave attitude, Union Square is close.
The Fairmont SFO is a very professionally run hotel with excellent and friendly helpful staff throughout this lovely hotel, the lobby and bar areas will stay with you forever, they are really beautiful and you can spend an eternity admiring their achictecture and layout. However we had two rooms, one for our son who is 21, our room was a good size and layout with a view of the Garden, the room our son had had no view really just a roof and a little on the small side, that was a bit dissapointing, they did offer another room but it was on a different floor and we wanted to be close together. All transport is very available from the Fairmont and cabs readily available 24 hours a day, the hotel is in a very good location and really nice area, I would recommend you stay here if you want to spoil yourself, the Gingerbread House in the Lobby for Christmas is amazing.

The hotel staff was extremely helpful. The concierges gave us excellent advice about nearby restaurants. Our room in the tower was gorgeous and we loved our stay. We hope to return soon!

Pros: Great location on Nob Hill, great corner suite in the hotel.
Very disappointed with the service from a hotel of this reputation. Called on the consierge several times during or stay and could never get them to answer the phone. Personally witnessed a confrontation between a bellman and a cab driver that was horrendous, made worse because we were sitting in the cab at the time!

Finally got to check in at The Fairmont

Posted Nov 19, 2014
Pros: The room was pretty and we had a nice view
Cons: General upkeep of a legendary hotel
Location: At the top of Nob Hill, a short walk to China Town, Union Square shopping, restaurants and sweeping views
I have always wanted to stay at the Fairmont SF, and never really got the opportunity until now. I liked the hotel, but it wasn't the five star experience I was hoping for. Everything was just ok, but not great. Maybe I had high expectations, but you should when you're spending hundreds of dollars a night. The grounds were a little unkempt, the gingerbread house wasn't spectacular, and the staff was a little inattentive. A doorman yelled at me, and it took 5 hours to get a crib in the room. They did comp us for that, which was nice, but I just wasn't blown away.

Every morning at 7am treated with hello and how can I help you. Remember previous request and friendly. Only problem was access to gym. Fees were required unless Presidents Club. Dated concept.

Perfect location & perfect view! Perfect bed, too!

Pros: Location; View; Decor; Bathroom; Service; Staff; Bed; Blanket. Almost everything.
Cons: House keeping (the room wasn't completely cleaned up before I checked in, but the issue was resovled quickly).
Location: The hotel's so amazing that I would have been happy to just stay inside the hotel for the whole duration of my visit.
Everything I asked for and more. Location is the best (5 minutes walk to Union Square, but being off Union Square it's not busy or noisy) - I didn't mind the slope going up to the hotel. It's a very easy walk if you are reasonably fit (but I do see a problem for elderly or those who are less mobile). Loved the lobby and corridor decor - super classy. I kind of felt instantly richer just by sitting in the bar lounge. The serving of food was very big (ordered the salmon flatbread, was expecting 2 pieces but there were 8...). The view from the tower room is AMAZING. The room's very big and the bathroom's extremely spacious (with separate bath and shower). Loved the scent of the toiletries. Most comfortable bed ever. The staff was very friendly. The doorman was heaps good. I only requested a regular taxi to the airport and he got me a "sedan" (hired car) because it charged a fixed fee ($55) and was probably cheaper than a taxi anyway given the traffic at that time. Had a couple of house keeping issues but the house keeping manager Julie was very professional and was able to sort those out quickly. Expensive wi-fi ($13.99 for a 24-hour period) but I knew about this when I booked so I can't complain.
