bad experience trying to get breakfast. Needed a reservation or a 45 minute wait! What's up with that... Waited 20 mins to get car.

Despite a power outage caused by torrential rains, I enjoyed my stay.

This is a beautiful hotel, especially around the holidays. We enjoyed our stay. However, we had some trouble with the shower, and it took 3 phone calls for maintenance to finally arrive. We waited 45 minutes to take a shower! We were compensated with two free beverage tickets which we were unable to use as we needed to check out and be on our way.

Lots of history

Posted Dec 17, 2014
Pros: Clean
Location: Short cab ride or decent walk to Union Square.
Wife and I stayed here for our 15 year anniversary and loved it. We were on the 18th floor and had a great view over the city. Top notch all the way around. We will probably make this our permanent place in SF.

Just wonderful!

Survived the 'great storm' at this luxury hotel. Decorated beautifully for Christmas and the staff treat everyone with kindness and respect. Great service and the refurbishment has ensured that this hotel remains as THE place to stay in SF.

Friendly Luxury Hotel

Posted Dec 9, 2014
Pros: The lobby, the breakfast room, the view, the shower and the coffee/tea making facilities in the room
Cons: It would be better with a swimming pool.
Location: Great fitness training climbing the hill everyday to reach the hotel!
Although the hotel is super luxurious the atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly.

Disappointing stay

Posted Dec 1, 2014
I had anticipated staying at the Fairmont as I remembered a fantastic stay about 15 years ago. However this stay was different. I felt the attention to detail was lost and service was sloppy. This isn't a hotel I can easily afford so it was depressing to not be thrilled with the quality of service and the room. My husband and I were there this past weekend and we're looking forward to being spoiled. We ordered room service for breakfast but they only got half the order right. Silly things like 2 coffees but 1 orange juice for the continental breakfast for two. I had also ordered 2 oatmeal a but just received one. Also requested a paper - marked it all on the breakfast fill out form - but they apparently ignored our order. It just ruined our breakfast in bed we were so looking forward to. Also lights were out in our bathroom! Weird as the whole stay seemed sloppy. Something you'd expect from a Days Inn or cheaper hotel. Anyway - they reimbursed us for our breakfast but I still felt disappointed and most likely won't be back.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your recent stay with us. While I'm happy you decided to join us after a fantastic stay 15 years ago, I'm sorry to hear this visit wasn't as memorable. There is certainly no excuse for the mistakes with the in-room dining order and I apologize for the overall sloppiness of the stay. This is not indicative of the level of service we strive to provide. I hope that you would be willing to return and allow us the opportunity to give you the experience you deserve. Sincerely, Lucas

Beautiful hotel with a very accommodating staff.

Posted Dec 1, 2014
Pros: The grander and graciousness
Cons: Complimentary wi-fi in the rooms
Location: Great location, good restaurants, cable car, yoga in a beautiful cathedral across the street, beautiful view
Our first room was beautiful but had a smoke smell. After one night when I asked if we could switch the people at the front desk were fabulous. They immediately assigned us to a much nicer room and sent a bell man to help us make the move. Our star was close to perfect.
