Great hotel in a great locationPosted Aug 17, 2014
Pros: Location, facilities, staff and service.
Location: Ideal location with a great roof garden
This must rate as one of our all time best hotel experiences. A great location in a great city, superb service and a very relaxing bar and restaurant. The Tonga Room is well worth a visit just to see it. Highly recommended.

A high quality classic hotel oozing with classPosted Aug 17, 2014
We arrived in san francisco mid way through our calafornia road trip. Leavimg the sunhine and outdoors of yoesemite behind, the fairmont was a becon of utter luxury. The newly decorated bedroom was very tasteful and comfortable and spaceous. We had a double queen room for a familyof 4 and it was ample size. Very clean bathroom, theost luxurious bedding and stunning bar, lobby area. Location wise, there was a trolley stop to the piers and fishermans wharf right outside the hotel and it was easy to walk to union square for shopping and china town. The only dowm side was the price of breakfast (Apprpx 40 $ each) We enjoyed coffee and pastries at the downstaors coffee shoptuch more!

Top Class HotelPosted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: Everything - but especially Tonga Bar!
Cons: Check in was rather slow but it was Friday evening.
Location: Great location over looking San Fran everything close by
From the minute we arrived everything was top class. Great Service. Room upgrade without request - room was top class and the view amazing. Great history to the hotel - my 15year old daughter and I were intrigued by previous guests and loved the Tony Bennett connection - his first performance of San Fran hit was sang here. Front desk clerk (again without asking) recommended cocktails at Tonga Bar as happy hour on Friday and apparently best Mai Tai in San Fran and she was right! We had dinner there later in the evening food was great as were the rest of the cocktails. Live entertainment and dancing great way to finish off our holiday. Have to give a particular mention to Bash who looked after us in Tonga - top top man. I can't wait to return. Great rate from Expedia too.

clueless and expensivePosted Aug 10, 2014
Location: forget the cable cars, they are impossible to get on
The hotel security, the same guy as a matter of fact, questioned me about if I was a guest or not, told me on one occasion, at 4:30 am that I had to go! I think it was because I was from the east coast and woke up early because I was still on EST! They started to serve free coffee at 4:15 am! I was there to get coffee, yet I was interrogated two consecutive mornings about my right to be there despite the fact that I was paying hundreds of dollars per night for the room! Two mornings in a row? Really? Plus, 10 dollars for a bowel of rice crispies! I will not stay there again

huge rooms lovely hotelPosted Aug 9, 2014
The only downside is that you can hear your neighbors next door, but other than that the rooms are extremely spacious, clean, and fully equipped with everything u need.

Good location but not very cosmopolitanPosted Aug 9, 2014
Good location but lacking certain basic amenities like a laundry bag, docking station, digital clock in the room, etc. looked like it was better than other hotels around but still seemed lacking.

The only hotel to stay at in San FranciscoPosted Aug 8, 2014
The customer service is always on point, the beds so comfy the fitness facilities so amazing and the hotel restaurant never let's me down. Our room was a bit, not spic and span, it just looked like someone dumped coffee in the sink and there was one clearly used towel but not a big deal!

Room with a beautiful viewPosted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: Friendly, professional & welcoming staff. Mattress & bed linens were comfortable -- we slept like babies. Loved the Keurig coffee maker too!
Cons: Free Wi-fi would be nice.
Location: Close to Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf & lots of restaurants. Cable cars stop across the street, although you may have to wait an hour to get on one.
We stayed in a recently renovated corner executive suite in the tower, which had wonderful views of the city. It was nicely appointed, but I think the walls are a little thin. We could plainly hear other guests opening and closing doors, turning on the shower, etc. We also heard loud thumping music on Saturday night probably coming from a wedding reception. Luckily, we put on the TV and drifted off to sleep.
