My 'VIP' hotel stay was a letdown, starting with check-in. Promised an upgrade, I received my already-booked king bed room. A complimentary bottle of wine was the only plus. Room issues included no microwaves and unconnected bedside outlets. A serious breach of security happened when a staff member gave my visitor unauthorized access to my room, a shocking first in my travels. Checkout was a fiasco. Cleaning staff disturbed us before checkout time, and lost and found service was inefficient and rude, failing to help with a misplaced item. Hidden fees, revealed only at checkout on Expedia, inflated the final bill. This lack of transparency and poor service did not justify the high cost. I wonder if booking through America Express Platinum would have altered my experience...
