Handy for public transport.

Posted Apr 13, 2015
Pros: Clean with helpful staff.
Cons: The breakfast could be improved.
Location: Four blocks from California cable car. Direct bus service to Fisherman's Wharf. Also direct bus service to AT & T Park (San Francisco Giants Baseball)
I have stopped at the Opal on many occasions. It is clean and staff are very helpful. I would stay there again.

Great location only a ten minute walk to Union Sq

Posted Apr 11, 2015
Room was basic and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was help yourself and there was enough choice to set you up for the day. Good to have a diner next door which serves great food.

Good location for USquare/ Tenderloin area

Rooms have newer outer and inner sash windows so you are able to reduce noise from outside. Breakfast is OK and Staff is very helpful.

Cons: Breakfast is free, but consists of frozen waffles, toast, yogurt, and curiously small apples, and pears.
Location: 30min walk to pier 39, museums, and the waterfront.
Opal is an older, but clean hotel. Although relatively outdated, the low cost makes it an attractive option for those wishing to stay near downtown.

Very old hotel with thin walls. You can hear every noise from the next room.

Nice hotel near Masonic

Posted Apr 2, 2015
We stayed here because we had a concert to attend at the Masonic which cancelled on our way there. We made the best of it and found we weren't to far from anything at this location . Great hotel for the price and sandwich shop across the street it outstanding

Close to local bus stop and shopping area. Hotel has its old charm but a bit dated, nonetheless it's family friendly place.

Hotel 15 min walk from Union Square

Posted Mar 31, 2015
Pros: Room and bathroom cleanliness.
Cons: Breakfast
Location: The hotel is 15 min walk from Union Square, the starting point of San Francisco sightseeing and cable car. Maybe it should be avoided to
The hotel was fine. Room was big enough (2 double beds) with flat tv. The hotel look a bit old, probably from seventies. Bathroom was very small and a bit outdated. However, the room and specially the bathroom was always clean with new bath towels every day (something which is very important to me!). The room was a bit noisy because of the street traffic, probably just because the window was facing the street. From the hotel´s guests point of view, it was very quiet. There were families and couples, so no noisy students and/or party people. Staff was polite. Breakfast was very simple and sometimes the breakfast room was crowded but you can however eat enough.

Located fairly near where we needed to go.

Posted Mar 30, 2015
Pros: Liked the fact that when we did complain they upgraded our room to one much nicer on the third day. Management and employees were very nice.
Cons: Change the website to look like the rooms. On the website they look so much nicer than they are.
Location: Hard to answer that. It was fairly close to UCSF where I need to go for a Dr.appt.
Where do I start? Hmmmm, first of all our room looked NOTHING at all like it did online. Very small, bad mattress's, smelled musty, we felt claustrophobic it was so small. Should have complained that very first day but we were soooooo tired we just wanted to go to bed. And by the way, the price was way too expensive for the room.

Seen better days

Positives: Location , Try Tommy's bar across the street Negatives: Old Hotel, had to change rooms at 1am due to plumbing noises, wifi was patchy at best, was told to call the Wifi company when I complained, isn't that the Hotel's job? Ok if you get a good deal as I did but not worth the full price, I stay in SF monthly and this is average at best
