Lots of Character

Posted Apr 17, 2014
Pros: Character, wi-fi, location, breakfast.
Cons: Cereal and milk would have been nice to have for my kids. Or a small refrigerator in the room to put left-overs in or milk for the kids.
Location: Great location. We were only a few blocks from the cable car stop and there was a bus stop right outside the hotel lobby.
The room was very clean. The staff was excellent. The bathroom was small, but served it's purpose. The room itself looked like a standard hotel room, but the bathroom had a lot of character that matched the feel of the lobby and outside of building. We had a view of the alley, but that is the essence of the location. We didn't stay in the hotel much anyway. There is too much to see. There is a nice diner attached to the hotel that had wonderful deserts. I highly recommend this hotel.

Good value for families

Posted Apr 14, 2014
Pros: Great value. Close to bus and cable car stops.
Cons: Breakfast choices could be expanded. My kids were hoping for waffles : )
Location: Brenda's Restaurant for brunch!
We arrived well before the 3 pm check-in and were able to get into our rooms. Front desk staff was very helpful with restaurant and transportation information.

Convenient location

Posted Apr 13, 2014
Great experience. This hotel was in a convenient location as it was by The Fillmore auditorium and Union Square where we spent most of our time. The hotel staff was very helpful in helping us find our way around town and making sure we got the full San Francisco experience.

Pros: Great staff, location, price and cleanliness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cons: n/a
Location: In the heart of the city
Old style inexpensive San Francisco hotel with friendly staff, only down fall which is typical of all of San Francisco the parking is very expensive but not nearly what it would cost you some other places in the city.

You get what you pay for

Posted Apr 11, 2014
Cons: Needs updating badly, especially the carpets. Even the hallways were stained.
I booked this hotel at a bargain rate of $118 for one night with a king bed. It did have parking but you had to pay extra ($27) and it was in a very narrow parking garage under the building. By the time taxes and local assessments were added the total bill came to $171. Not exactly the savings I was hoping for, but that's San Francisco. The room was very small and felt old. The carpet had stains on it which made me want to keep my socks on at all times. The "breakfast" was basically yogurt cups and bagels or toast with juice or coffee. Again, you get what you pay for here.

Good Enough

Posted Apr 10, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: The smell was terrible. Since the hotel is old, the carpet has a certain smell. Ventilation is not working.
Location: The location is close to a lot restaurants, banks, coffee house and cinema.
It was close enough to restaurants, walking distance. It is an old hotel and the room where we were assigned was clean enough but not enough ventilation.

Nice historic hotel

Posted Apr 9, 2014
Pros: Good location!!!
Cons: Everywhere was very clean, but they should renovate the hotel, like breakfast area need to be updated plus beds that were not quite comfortable.
Location: Very close to Union Square, Chinatown and a short distance to public transportation
Had very nice experience. Was very clean. Front desc helpful and friendly. Additional plus, close to downtown and public transportation.
