“Nice Experience”
This hotel was in a extremely convenient location. The staff was very helpful. The elevators were a little frightening, very slow and I felt sick after riding on them. Other than that i really enjoyed my experience at the Pickwick. The little Italian restaurant had fantastic food at good prices. Overall, this was a excellent value and I would return.
“Older but Nice - BAD WiFi”
This hotel is clean, convenient, and cheap. I was not bothered by the traffic sounds even though I was streetside. Staff were courteous, especially the housekeepers who hooked me up with a super soft down pillow. However, if you absolutely must have WiFi that works, this is not the hotel for you. It seems to be very spotty; I would connect then lose connection atleast once every 30 minutes. At times, I could not connect at all. When I took my laptop into the hallway, it would always reconnect - but then drop once I got back into my room. Front desk staff's best solution was for me to use my laptop only in the lobby, which was not, in my opinion, suitable.
“good location, but too loud”
location is excellent and the place was clean and pretty nice but it was just too loud. we kept hearing what i'm guessing were the water pipes throughout the night. it sounded like incessant knocking. i couldn't fall back asleep after i woke up in the middle of the night and i'm usually a decent sleeper.
“Very impressed and happy that I booked”
Great deal for this price point. Not my style of decor, but done really classy. Service was excellent and bathroom was super clean. Best of all, great location -- in the middle of Union Square. Great shopping and restaurants. Also, it's located right by Blue Bottle Cafe. The best coffee shop in town. Will definitely stay here again.
“Pickwick a bit off the beaten path”
This hotel is old as most are in the area around Market Street. However, it is a few blocks away from the really busy area north of Market Street. So if you like being right in the middle of things you may be disappointed. The location is close to all amenities you need, but not to so chaotic as Union Square. Japanese restaurant next door was really good. There are 2 coffee shops with one block and the mall on market is 2 blocks away. We enjoyed this hotel although the price was steep for what we got. But that was because there were 22,000 extra people in town for the Nike marathon. It was the cheapest hotel closest to Union Square we could find. Hotel is clean, staff was accommodating.
“just basic hotel.”
i can accept but not the best i like for the trip.
“Comfortable Beds!!!”
This funky hotel fit my needs to a tee! Excellent night's sleep, convenient location for my needs...and the price was right.
“Good Price and Clean in Union Square”
Clean hotel. Best deal in the area.
“Nice location, charming hotel”
We stay in the Union Square/Shopping center area of SF often and we try different hotels each time. The Pickwick was a good choice location wise - we go on Amtrak and it's right around the corner from the Amtrak bus stop at the Westfield Shopping center - close to all forms of transportation for getting around the city. The Hotel is charming, very old and quaint, the room was cute and the bed comfortable. Our room was on the outside corner of the building so we had a bit more NOISE than usual (trash cans/glass being emptied at 2 am, shouting and of course traffic. Had a noisy room neighbor but the gracious staff took care of that with a phone call. The SOMA Restaurant in the hotel was delightful for dinner! EXCELLENT food and good service. One of the best dinners I've ever had in SF. It was their first night open for dinner and it was outstanding. YUM - and no $$$-ier than anywhere else. I would stay again but I'd be chosy about the room location. The price was right but I'd like more sleep! But noice can be a problem at ANY of these busy area hotels.
