Rooms of good size. Well appointed. Upgraded to SPG which was nice. Bed very comfortable. Location central and served our purpose of family wedding at City Hall perfectly.

First time stay

Posted Feb 21, 2015
Pros: Beauty of it
Cons: Definitely the upper floors need better cooling.
Location: My first stop was Swarovski and my 2nd was Louis Vuitton...lots to do and see within walking distance.
I loved the beauty of the hotel and facilities, my biggest grief was I was on the 12th floor and it was too hot for me. I had the air conditioner on the whole time at 60* and my room never cooled down below 75*...that doesn't sound very hot, but when you're in a room where the air is NOT circulating it becomes stifling. It took 3 calls to concierge to obtain 1 fan and that didn't help much so after another 3 calls and no 2nd fan I left a note for my housekeeper of my room to obtain the 2nd fan. She did and I gave her a $100 tip because it was worth it to me!! She was awesome!! Being an older hotel explains the antiquated air conditioning and I understand that. This was my first time spending that kind of money for a hotel or trip for that matter and I don't regret it, just the location of my room.

Great Location in Union Square

Posted Feb 17, 2015
I usually LOVE this hotel, but my room in the landmark section was just ok. I was right next door to another room and could hear everything. I was also near a service elevator that I could clearly hear going up and down every few minutes. Other than that, it'sin a great location. I will go back, but I will ask to stay in the newer section of the hotel.

Adequate hotel, but not for us.

Posted Feb 17, 2015
Pros: High ceilings.
Cons: The things we disliked such as location would be hard to change.
Location: Union Square is the center of everything in San Francisco which has pluses and minuses.
The St. Francis/Westin is an historic hotel on Union Square. We stayed in the old building facing the Square. The room was small, but had high ceilings and a great view. The hallways are spacious. Unfortunately, the Square is very noisy with street musicians playing until 9:00 - 10:00 in the evening. Also, the elevators are only operable with your key card. It's a security feature, but difficult to use. Also, the St. Francis charges for internet: $80 bucks over 5 days. It's a huge hotel, so you are just a number to the staff. We much prefer the Kimpton Monaco a few blocks away where the staff greet you name and are amazingly friendly and helpful. And internet is free! We only stayed at the St. Francis because the Monaco restaurant was being renovated.

Elegant modern hotel

Beautiful hotel: gorgeous rooms and huge lobby with lots of options for shops, bar, lounge, coffee, etc. Right across the street from Union square, and next to all of the best shops and restaurants. Loved our stay and will absolutely be coming back!

Great hotel close to everything.

Posted Feb 16, 2015
The hotel and staff were great. They offered great suggestions when we asked about place to eat. Our room faced another room so we didnt get a view. Didn't mind because we spent majority of time outside site seeing. When we first arrived our TV wasn't working, they sent up a handy man and fixed it quick even credited us a free movie. If you want a view just make sure you upgrade.

Great hotel with SF prices

Posted Feb 16, 2015
Great hotel, in the middle and heart of union square SF. Close to everything. With good location, good service, and the heart of downtown, expect SF prices. Parking and extra charges.

Business Trip

Posted Feb 13, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: quiet places to sit, work and have a drink
Location: Near all major shops, walking distance to the local restaurant scene and I walked to Moscone each day
Location is great. Can get busy with convention/business travelers which equally can make it noisy if you are looking to relax in evening after working all day. I love the Westin Hotels and this one in particular has great restaurants. Not least the staff are very friendly and helpful
