Summer in San Francisco

Posted Jul 24, 2014
Pros: location and beauty of staying in something other than a glass box.
Cons: free wifi
Location: Convenient to everything - shopping, great restaurants, tour buses, trolly cars etc. Wonderful activities in Union Square.
Love this place and it isn't the first time I've stayed here. My only issue was the room was warm so the air conditioning didn't seem to be working that well, but to be fair I didn't call to ask for service. Crazy that they don't have free WIFI. With the price of a hotel night and quality of the overall service, free wifi should definitely be included.

Magical weekend with my niece

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: We love the d├ęcor of this hotel and the friendly, accommodating staff. The food and drinks are excellent.
Cons: I really can't think of anything and I have traveled extensively!
Location: The hotel is right on Union square in the center of the best shopping area. There are several world renowned restaurants within walking distance.
My 18 year old niece and I planned a very special shopping weekend at the Westin for he high school graduation gift. We lounged on the Westin's Heavenly Beds, watched movies, ordered room service - which was very timely and high quality. The service was excellent. . This hotel is classy, with excellent customer service, perfect location for shopping, sight seeing, the theater or just for relaxing and enjoying the activities in Union Square. We will definitely come again!!

Ok stay

Posted Jul 22, 2014
The hotel was very nice and pleasant to stay in...our only problem was the toilet. After a couple of flushes, it wouldn't stop flushing. We called the front desk to have someone come in and fix it. The technician showed up promptly, fixed the toilet and left. We didn't use the toilet until the next morning only to find out that it would not flush. We checked out and told the front desk about our situation. They were nice enough to waive our parking.

Could be nicer. fees, fees, fees.......

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: Very clean, nice looking.
Cons: Fees, fees, fees, for everything, no internet as part of your stay, you had to pay for that too.
The hotel, room, etc was pretty nice. Checking in and out was not as great, checking in, line of people, only 3 staff doing check ins, 10 computers available. Checking out, had to stand in line, only 1 person at the computer, I wanted a receipt, but they did not drop off at the room anymore, so line for me. Probably waited 15 minutes. Parking, valet only. Pretty pricey, would have been nice to know before I arrived, and I think it should be included part of the nightly fees anyways, but just my thought. I guess if you're paying this much for a hotel stay, you should expect separate fees for everything.

Awesome Union Square Location

Posted Jul 19, 2014
Pros: We especially liked the convenient location and the
I stayed at the St. Francis for a "girl's trip" with my sister and 16 year old niece. It was my niece's first time in San Francisco and we wanted a special experience. The foyer is grand and opulent and the history is evident. The hotel was all that we hoped for. We stayed in a Tower Room which was spacious and modern. The bedding was wonderful and the bed was very comfortable. The towels and bathroom essentials were nice, too. The view wasn't great but we came to San Francisco to be out about so it was okay. We took the BART from SFO and walked the 3 or so blocks to the hotel so it was very convenient. The concierge was quite informative and made some good restaurant recommendations. (We found the "Four Seas" in Chinatown on our own..great Dim Sum and highly recommended by the 3 of us) The St Francis was all that we hoped for and more. When my husband and I go back to San Francisco we would stay here...it's a beautiful and historic hotel and the convenience is perfect. It was worth every penny we paid. If you are looking for a memorable San Francisco stay, this is the place for you.

Tourist trap not up to Westin standards.

Posted Jul 18, 2014
Pros: The staff was great. Positive, accommodating and professional.
Cons: Dirty, tired and looking like a worn hotel that needs attention. They are resting on their location and reputation.
Location: Noisy, lots of street people and tourists.
You would think that you could count on Westin in a large market like San Francisco to deliver a quality experience and room. Not at this "Grand" old hotel. The lobby, room and entire property was worn like an old shoe. The carpet was shabby. My room was "upgraded" due to being a SPG frequent traveler. I could not have been more disappointed. The bed, while comfortable, was not a Heavenly Bed. My room was dirty, bathroom stocked with towels that had someone's hair on two of them. It was not pleasant. I arrived late after a very long day of travel and work. If it had not been 10PM at check in, I would have insisted on something being done. I would not recommend this hotel at all. It was not inexpensive but it should have been.

Excellent service, clean hotel.

Posted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness
Location: Awesome! Cable cars and BART system nearby which makes it easy to get around the city. We did not rent a car for this reason. Saved us a bunch.
Great hotel to stay at. Very close to many eateries and shops. The concierge was fabulous! Very knowledgable and provided excellent service!

Fancy noisy hotel.

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: The hotel itself is well kept, and feels very safe. It is in a very busy part of San Francisco
Cons: Parking was very expensive. It was better to find off site parking. The room itself was very small, but the bed was comfortable.
The hotel is elegant, however, there is loud "hip hop" music in the lobby making the hotel less than serene. If you are looking for a party atmosphere, would be fine, but 6am is not when I want to hear loud music.

Location: Perfect Location! Close to Bart, trolley, tourist buses and walkable to nearly everywhere.
Perfect location with well appointed and generous rooms. We stayed in a corner king room (room 1209) and it was an incredible view of Union Square. Highly recommend!
