Great Location

Posted Aug 19, 2014
My mom and I stayed at the Villa Florence for 3 nights in August and the service was exceptional! I had emailed them inadvance to let them know that it was my mom’s birthday and they surprised us with a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries - WOW! The Villa Florence is conveniently located in the heart of San Francisco on Powell. If your looking to shop, want easy transportation anywhere, and want to feel the city vibe then this is the location for you. The staff were very accommodating, the room was clean, INCREDIBLE FOOD at the restaurant (Kuletos), and THE LOCATION WAS PERFECT! On our last day we had a very early morning flight and were a little concerned with walking to the train at that time. The very kind and accommodating gentleman named Edward called us a shuttle and entertained us until we left. All in all, it was a perfect stay – thank you Villa Florence! You made my mom’s birthday and our first-time experience in San Francisco truly memorable.

Overpriced

Posted Aug 16, 2014
Pros: clean
Cons: Knowledge and politness of staff
Location: close to union square. A total nightmare
TIny rooms, extremely busy roads, impossible to park, rude staff that has lack of knowledge. You feel ripped off with such an overpriced place. There is absolutely nothing that stands out at this place other than the ridiculous prices.

Not as advertised

Posted Aug 16, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Everything (except location)
While in an excellent location, it didn't live up to it's cost or reputation. We spent 6 nights in SF in one of the executive suites of this hotel. Staff was impatient and offered little help. Room smelled terrible and was unclean. We asked to change the room and after days of pleading with hotel management, they offered us another room. Moving to it proved that there was nothing particularly wrong with our room, but that there was something seriously wrong with the entire hotel. Don't waste your money on this place. For the same spend, or a little more, you can get a room in a real hotel with respectable management like the Westin.

Good relaxing hotel in very central, busy, area.

Posted Aug 13, 2014
Pros: Relaxing. Helpful staff. Good breakfast.
Cons: Cleanliness of corridors.
Location: Union Square in San Franscisco - lots to do and see in immediate surroundings.
Excellent, professional and speedy check-in and check-out. Good sized room and en-suite for central San Francisco hotel.

Disappointed - way too expensive for what you get

Posted Aug 12, 2014
Pros: It was in a historic property and the location is great.
Cons: Have at least a glass shelf under the mirror over the sink. There is no space for toothbrush or any cosmetics.
We stayed at the Sir Francis Drake, a similar historic property and then 1 night at this hotel. We had booked a Deluxe room with a queen bed. The first room that they gave us had a window to the light shaft - basically a closet with no windows. Check-in staff was not very nice. They then switched us to another room on the 7th floor with a window onto Powell St. Rooms are small, and very dated. The bathroom was miniscule and very awkward, and there was barely space for a toothbrush on the sink, let alone anything else you needed

Great Location!

Posted Aug 12, 2014
Pros: Stated above.
Cons: A through cleaning of the hotel hallways is needed. Has a dated lingering odor.
Location: The hotel is located in the Union Square area, which renders fabulous shopping ( bling, bling stores) and within walking distance to good restaurants.
Friendly staff, clean rooms, and a great location in Union Square! Had a fabulous breakfast at the hotel cafe, with a very attentive waiter. Enjoyed my stay and may return again!

nice hotel, not so good experince

Posted Aug 10, 2014
Pros: hotel was clean, good location, some friendly employees
Cons: nt desk to be a little more friendly, smile wouldnt hurt, AIR CONDITIONING UNIT NOT TO MAKE NOISE
Location: Good location, close to almost everything,
the hotel it self was nice, however, at 1am our air conditioner starting making noise, noise that the hotel was aware of!?!?....needless to say this woke us up, staff came out to fix, knew exactly what it was. not a very good night sleep at all. Not a sorry for the inconvience or discount on the stay....would have expected much more for this level of hotel.

Great surprise

Posted Aug 3, 2014
Pros: Location, great service, clean and reliable, good bathroom.
Cons: More portions of coffee for the self-serve coffee maker, real milk or cream for coffee instead of chemical powder.
Location: Located on one of the most crowded tourist routes, but very convenient for walking to Chinatown, Columbus, Museum of Modern Art, and much more.
We got the booking by blind chance through Expedia (without knowing the hotel in advance) and were so pleasantly surprised. Very friendly and helpful personal, from the greeting at the door to all service. Clean, relatively large rooms, relatively quiet for being in the very heart of SF.

Tired hotel; great price

Posted Jul 30, 2014
Pros: Prime location, great restaurant & bar on main level.
Cons: Other than the F&B outlets, entire hotel needs a complete renovation (however, that would understandably raise the price)
Location: Right in the center of everything you want to be around downtown SF (near Union Sq, dining, shopping, cable cars, waterfront)
This former Kimpton hotel is tired, and a complete renovation is about 5 years overdue. All case goods and soft goods are old and dated. However, location is fantastic and price was great. Hotel was clean (despite many permanent carpet stains), and service was good. Overall, a great place to spend the night in a great location in downtown SF, but if you're looking for a great hotel experience you'll be better off elsewhere.
