Tired hotel; great pricePosted Jul 30, 2014
Pros: Prime location, great restaurant & bar on main level.
Cons: Other than the F&B outlets, entire hotel needs a complete renovation (however, that would understandably raise the price)
Location: Right in the center of everything you want to be around downtown SF (near Union Sq, dining, shopping, cable cars, waterfront)
This former Kimpton hotel is tired, and a complete renovation is about 5 years overdue. All case goods and soft goods are old and dated. However, location is fantastic and price was great. Hotel was clean (despite many permanent carpet stains), and service was good. Overall, a great place to spend the night in a great location in downtown SF, but if you're looking for a great hotel experience you'll be better off elsewhere.

Good location with excellent Italian restaurant on ground floor. Easy access to BART station and restaurants/shopping. However, the room was very noisy on the street side and their were a couple people on the street below between 3 am-7am shouting and keeping everyone awake. We were on the top floor of the hotel, but the sound on the street carried up and through the window AC unit. This was unfortunate and probably a rare occurrence. There was a peculiar "off" smell in the bathroom as well. Room was furnished nicely and for the small size was laid out pretty good.

Nice hotel on Powell at Union SquarePosted Jul 24, 2014
Pros: The location, the room, the friendly service.
Location: Union Square, cable car, Chinatown, major Shopping area, SFMoma, Market Street.
It was very conveniently located, the Cable Car passes right in front. It's in the middle of the hustle of Union Square, a couple of blocks away from the Bart station. The room was nice, even though it over looked the street and it was noisy at times (but we were asked if we wanted a quiet room or one overlooking the street, which we chose).

Pros: location. The lady at the desk at night shift was helpful. Rooms are fine.
Location: Union Square, cable cars, BART, theatre, easy access to taxis, cafe next door and Starbucks on the corner.
Nice locations, excellent for transport around the city. Air conditioning was somewhat noisy.

Nice location, but not greatPosted Jul 21, 2014
An OK hotel if you're a tourist visiting San Francisco and you didn't drive. We drove from the East Bay for a weekend in the city and parking was a huge headache, as the hotel itself doesn't have a garage. Had to circle the block for an hour or so until there was an open spot to park for the valet, which wasn't exactly cheap, but about average for SF. I wish we had just taken BART. Also, the street noise goes on late into the night. Other than that, it's right on Powell street and a short walk to China Town and North Beach. Kind of reminded me of some hotels I stayed at in Florence, so I guess the name is somewhat fitting...

Location is great!Posted Jul 21, 2014
Room was small and quaint (expected in DT SF). Overall the hotel is nice, but, due for some refurbishing to maintain overall cleanliness.

Not a bad word to say!Posted Jul 21, 2014
From the minute we stepped out of our car at the front of the building until we checked out the following day, Villa Florence was five star all the way. Highly recommended.

Heart of San FranciscoPosted Jul 12, 2014
Pros: Rooms are spacious enough
Cons: Just coffee? No tea in the room?
Location: Tourists who like to shop will like the location.
Villa Florence is at the heart of the city. If you're a tourist and want to see the beautiful and ugly, the endearing and shocking, the delightful and unnerving, well then choose this hotel and experience the colors of San Francisco. If you're faint of heart who prefer a quiet retreat, then look much farther away from the madhouse of a downtown location.
