The staff is so friendly and helpful. They are very detail oriented. The grounds are beautiful. The food is excellent and the excursions are fabulous. Go to the ATM! The most exciting thing I have ever done. Everything was perfect! I love this place! Wonderful setting close to everything. Lovely pool is very refreshing.

We had an awesome time at this hotel.. The food is out of this world with 5 courses at dinner. The trip to Tikal was spectacular! The hosts were extremely friendly. All done in a eco-friendly manner. I highly recommend Maya Mountain Lodge.

“Love/Hate Relationship”

I absolutely loved everything the lodge had to offer, friendly staff, amazing food, awesome excursions. Hated the bugs, I understand we were in the jungle area but I just wasn't expecting that many bugs in my room. Fortunately my boyfriend had read reviews on other sites and brought duct tape to cover the open areas on the windows and door to keep most bugs out. The excursions through the hotel were amazing but it seemed for a non-bug lover, if we weren't out on an excursion, there would not be too much to do around the lodge. They have a 45-60 min trail that goes to some mayan ruins, you can walk into the town but not much on the actual premises. Our last two days we didn't have excursions planned so we ended up booking to another part of Belize.

“Great vacation at Maya Mountain Lodge”

My son and I stayed at MML for 4 nights in March 2008, and we loved it. An old-fashioned, charming, rustic, family-run lodge in the hills above San Ignacio. The lodge will arrange for you to be picked up at the airport in Belize City, it's about a 90-minute ride to the lodge. The extensive grounds are lovely, filled with palms and flowering trees. Most of the rooms are separate cabanas. All have AC and fans. We stayed in a thatched-roof cabana with 1 dble bed and one twin-- it was spotlessly clean & very comfortable. The best things about MML are the food and friendly staff. Dinner is incredible -- fresh local produce, traditional cuisine with five courses each night -- and the staff is delightful, eager to please. The chef will happily accommodate food preferences and allergie. The owners are on-site and work hard to make sure everything goes smoothly. They will arrange tours to Mayan ruins, kayaking, cave explorations, etc. They have a good website. Note the lovely open-air dining room. There's no bar but guest can buy beer, wine, rum in town. Nice pool area, but the main attraction is the adventure touring to nearby rivers, caves, Mayan ruins.... There were fmilies with teenagers, and some with small children, and honeymoon couples, a nice crowd. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

“Absolutely wonderful weekend!”

This hotel hit every possible spot. The owners were friendly and attentive. The cottage had everything you would require and more than other places in the area. The food was amazing every night and morning. The tours, although seemed expensive, included absolutely everything (including hotel packed snacks and water). I couldn't have imagined a more perfect setting. Great choice!!

The owners, Bart and Suzi provide a very welcoming setting and good food. The grounds are beautiful and heavily planted with exotic plants. A very plsant place to base your Cayo activities from.

“Maya Mountain Lodge - a great place for adventure”

Maya Mountain lodge is a small rustic get away in the jungle run by a sweet couple who go out of their way to made sure you have a great time. The food there is gourmet local and they show you how it's prepared. It's superb. MML is in a great location. We only had 2 full days there and wished we had more time. There are a ton of adventure tours to take from there. We spent one day exploring the incredible ATM cave which involves hiking, swimming, and climbing. It's full of stalactites, crystals, Mayan artifacts, and even human bones. Make sure you bring an extra pair of old closed toe shoes to swim/hike in - they will not dry while your in the jungle area We also took a tour to Guatamala (which is only a half hour away) to visit the ancient city of Tikal. You don't ant to miss that. There is also cave tubing, cliff diving, river rafting, and a zoo where you can get into a little cage inside a jaguar habitat. The Jaguar (Junior) will climb on top and lick your head. All these activities will be arranged for you by the MML staff.

“Pretty grounds, great food,nice staff, great excursions, okay accommodations.”

Nice enough place to stay, fairly clean rooms, beautiful grounds, and delicious food. The excursions to Tikal and ATM were fabulous and the hosts can arrange for great guides. Be warned that the pool is nothing special and they don't serve alcohol. Conveniently located just off the Western Highway, easy to find.
