Cute, quaint, clean and amazing bang for our buck!Posted Mar 5, 2015
This place was amazing. It was so cute and cozy and felt like a little bed and breakfast! Rooms are small but perfect for a couple. I would definitely stay here again.

Trustworthy and helpful staff who speak English.Posted Feb 25, 2015
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Bathrooms are small.
Location: Quiet area just a block off the Main Street and two blocks from the National Park. Lots of good restaurants close by.Jeff
Rooms are basic and functional. Staff are around most of the time and are friendly and give good advice. Bathroom is small, but everything worked. Showers have cold water, but that's just fine in the tropics. Air conditioner was good.

Gute (An-)Lage, aber unsauberes BadPosted Dec 21, 2014 on Hotels.com

Nice hotel, shame it was in San JosePosted Dec 18, 2014
Great value in such an overpriced city. The room was a good size with a huge comfy bed, very clean and brightly decorated. Plenty of hot water in the bathroom. Breakfast was a little basic (only bread, fruit, juice and coffee); eggs would have been nice and could have been but at an extra cost. Close to the centre of town and the nearby attractions. Plenty of places to eat near by. The Irish bar next door does a pretty good burger but the draft beer is way overpriced and of poor quality. Over all this is a great hotel, it's just a shame it's in San Jose.

off the beaten path next to an embassyPosted Dec 13, 2014
An eclectic and charming guest house with super clean, unique rooms decorated tastefully by the owner Donna from Canada. She goes beyond the call of duty to make sure you are comfortable and feel at home. A fantastic fruit breakfast with a full pot of CR coffee as well as the best french bread I have ever had makes breakfast an event. served by a pleasant staff, and nothing runs out.. Eggs with ham available for a little xtra if desired. hi speed internet and tastefully decorated parlor and dining room adds to the decor Hot water never runs out Flat screen tvs in rooms observation deck with chaise longes with panoramic view of city This place has class. A bargain for the price book early, sells out quickly..

Many many problemsPosted Dec 6, 2014
Pros: Free internet and Wi-Fi, and free international calling.
Cons: A restaurant on-site, or food for purchase.
Location: Difficult for me
The owner of the hotel is from Canada, and has a home there, as well as one on the east side of Costa Rica. She spends most of her time in these two locations, far from the Hotel 69, and it shows. When she is at Hotel 69, she brings her 3 very large dogs, who have the run of the hotel, and while friendly, they jump up on guests and bark constantly, while she shouts for them to stop. After 3 days in a row of waking to barking dogs, I was ready to move! The staff of the hotel speak very little English, and sometimes it is difficult to make yourself understood. Breakfast is fruit, bread, and coffee or tea--very little substance. There are few restaurants close by, and the hotel does not provide food other than breakfast. Steps into the hotel make it difficult for anyone mobility-challenged, and 25-watt lamp bulbs make reading in bed difficult. However, there is a computer and free internet for guests, as well as a magic jack telephone for free international calling. Overall, I would not stay again at this hotel.
