Marvin BrooksPosted Mar 18, 2015
Great 2 nights, close to everything and after being there it would be my choice again in the city. Marvin (staff) was awesome and he helped with my Spanish and I helped him to learn more English. Our room looked out over center square which is exactly where you want to be, it's the hub of walking part of city. Hotel just had this old world posh charm and I now understand why JFK stayed there. Great ceviche and patio is very cool.

Location, location; locationPosted Mar 6, 2015
So well located. Everything was close: museums, good restaurants, the arts and crafts market, and the smoke-free casino. Good value, friendly staff. Yes, the rooms were a little worn, but for a short stay, you can't beat it!!

Good situation in central San JosePosted Feb 23, 2015
Pros: Interesting building with lots of history, and comfortable areas for sitting to read or relax.
Cons: More staff, especially at check in! Cold drinks served to provide a welcome. A Manager was notably absent and should have been available to help.
Location: Only there overnight but have been told of a great market around the corner and basically good access to the city centre.
Initial experience was very poor as we had to wait in line for approximately 45 minutes to check in. Only one staff member was available for this purpose and around 20 weary travelers were becoming increasingly angry. In her defense, she was dealing with some quite difficult and demanding people and she remained calm, pleasant and smiling! So - bad first impression, but we were happy with the clean comfortable room, where noise was not a problem. We had dinner on the outdoor patio on ground level and had an excellent meal in an attractive setting. Breakfast was included in the price and was served buffet style with the option of freshly made omelets. The restaurant was clean and bright with friendly, helpful staff.

Bonne localisationPosted Jan 24, 2015 on Hotels.com
Hotel tres bien situe au centre-ville de San Jose. Par contre, il n'y avait pas d'air climatise. Le petit-dejeuner inclus tres bon buffet. Hotel de grand luxe qui a mal veilli.

Gorgeous hotel in City CentrePosted Jan 22, 2015
Pros: Gorgeous historic building, so grand. Staff couldn't do enough for you.
Cons: Update air conditioners.
Location: Location is great in centre close to everything and felt very safe. Lots of food options and shopping outside the front door.
Beautiful old hotel located right in the centre of the city. Room very spacious for us and two children. Yes, the rooms are a little old, but our room was in excellent, clean condition. Could do with new air conditioners, as the huge box in our room was very noisy. Breakfast buffet was excellent and staff so friendly and helpful.
