Wonderful neighborhood, near resturants

Very much enjoyed the ambiance! Staff very helpfull. Resturants within walking distance. Will book this Inn next time I come to San Jose.

Location: The Central Market is nearby and a huge park. Good downtown location.
Helpful and accessible staff. The owner is very interesting to talk to. The breakfast was tasty and plentiful. I could eat hotcakes, eggs any style and fresh fruit every morning. There is also a good restaurant kitty-corner from the hotel.

I really enjoyed this hotel. Staff were really friendly, they organized pick up/drop off to the airport, organized buying bus ticket ahead of time. My bf and I were heading to Jaco. Even more amazing I forgot my passport in my room and the maid found it and the manager kept it safe for me until I came back our last night of the trip. THANK YOU to the great staff. This is a budget hotel so room aren't large but you're there to experience the culture, not stay in your room. This place is safe, friendly and again honest staff. I would stay there again.

unforgettable charm

The artwork on the walls made Hemingway Inn a special place. I enjoyed the smiles and conversations I had with the staff who are prompt in their services. On my first morning, they set me on a day tour that I was interested in within the hour . They know well how the schedules run. Only a small place like this could have that special personal attention for me. Later in the week that I stayed there, I met another Canadian who had returned for his second visit to Costa Rica. I also met the artist, Charlsie, who did most of the beautiful murals which had left such good memories for me. Being a person who appreciates art, imagination and writing, I felt that the place was just where I wanted to be. It was peaceful as not all the rooms were taken. I like waking up to the sounds of tropical birds. I'll never get to hear those again until I get back there like my fellow Canadian who was there for the second time.

Not bad, but needs some work

Staff was friendly and helpful. However, the bed in the room was very old and creaky; the merc. vapor street lights outside the window lit up the room like daylight at night and the promoted hot-tub doesn't work. Overall, not a bad place but they need to upgrade some things for greater customer comfort. I also suggested better door locks and smoke alarms in rooms....

Quaint and good service

Hotels.com didn't pay the hotel and we had to pay te hotel once we got there, to find out later that hotels.com had charged the amount to our credit card. So we ended up paying twice. We hope to get our money back. The hotel is quaint but a little rundown. The service attitude of the workers is excellent. It is a B&B so it was nice to have a substantial breakfast before going off for the day. The location is very good, close to downtown. It is quite inexpensive. You get what you pay for.

The hotel was not as advertized. The rooms were dark, dirty and extremely uncorfortable. We did not stay. There was an other hotel in the area that was extremely nice at about the same cost.
