Modern, clean, decent hotel, with good service.Posted Mar 3, 2013
Pros: Very clean, contemporary room, good service
Cons: Breakfast was not amazing, but enough to tide us over.
We had a pleasant overnight stay at the hotel, prior to a flight the following morning. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, the room was very new and clean with a nice powerful shower. The only glitch we encountered was when we wanted to get what we thought was the free shuttle to the airport (the main criteria in our hotel search). Apparently the shuttle is free, picking you up from the airport, but not taking you to it. We explained that we'd already paid for a taxi from the airport the previous night and were assuming we could get a ride to the airport in the morning. We hadn't noticed this detail when booking, but in any event, the reception staff allowed us to get a free transfer. Would recommend as a good hotel for a flight in or out of San Jose, although it was further from the airport than we expected.

Convenient to super market, Denny's, Best Western Irazu with casino, restaurants, pharmacy- 5 minute walk through quiet neighborhood. Also close to Hospital Mexico. Grayline office just one block from this hotel for booking tours and shuttle bus.

Very Nice Hotel with excellent servicePosted Dec 17, 2012
I have to say this was a really nice hotel. The staff was very helpful and polite. We requested transportation to the airport the next day at 4:45 A.M and when we went down stairs they were waiting. The rooms were very very clean. Were were on the Third floor and heard traffic but that did not bother us. We only spend one night as we just got of a cruise did not get a chance to see what was around the hotel as far as tourism excursions. The staff recommended a fish restaurant that we walked to which was excellent. I would stay again if I return to Costa Rica.

Clean, spacious, and Well worth the PricePosted Dec 9, 2012 on Hotels.com
The hotel was clean and very spacious, with modern fixtures and finishes. The room was much larger than I expected with a queen size bed, desk, fridge, & microwave. The drawbacks were few. The wifi didnt work very well so no instagram and twitter however the front desk gave me an Ethernet cable to connect my laptop and with that I was in business. During the day the guy at the front desk spoke English but at night there was a bit of a language barrier, but the guy was still helpful and did his best to help me. The hotel was about 4-5 blocks away from the nearest restaurants which isnt very far unless your hungry at about 10pm in a foreign country by yourself with no cell phone service. There were about 3 or 4 places that offered delivery though. Within walking distance i found a Dennys, Subway, and a Shrimp place (the food was good and very reasonable). The problem that i ran into was not so much with the hotel but with staying in San Jose, there wasnt much for me to do in the city... i wanted to swim and zip line, ride horses etc. I should have stayed closer to those activities because it took about an hour and a half to get to the places that i wanted to go by taxi. The hotel had a taxi/shuttle driver; George. He took me out around town and waited while i'd eat or go take pictures around town for a reasonable price. All in all the hotel was great for me, just a bit farther than i would have liked it to be from the attractions of Costa Rica

Very helpful staff at Hotel Plaza RealPosted Mar 11, 2012 on Hotels.com
We stayed at the Plaza Real for 2 nights of our trip in Costa Rica. The hotel staff was more than accommodating and helpful. We were trying to plan a trip to Tortuguero (remote island in Costa Rica) and they went above and beyond, helping us make calls to other hotels and assisting us in researching on the internet. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast could have been a little more plentiful but we had busy days planned so there wasn't a lot of time to sit around and enjoy a big breakfast anyway. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Costa Rica.
