Despite the hotel grounds and our room providing tranquil and comfortable accommodation of a very high standard, we were almost straight away made to feel like outsiders to the group as we booked through expedia. We were requested to wear bracelets to differentiate us. The provision of 'bottled water' was limited to one small bottle in a room booked for two. In addition, on the second night the room was turned leaving only one chocolate, which in itself is a gesture but when the room has two guests this becomes another point of dissatisfaction during a stay of being referred to as 'the Expedia people'. Finally, despite the food which was an additional cost being delicious, it was buffet only and therefore more costly than booking directly with the hotel as full board. Felt short changed by this given the inferior service. In particular the staff at the restaurant were not helpful in giving details of what food to expect to be served at said buffets which then makes deciding to eat said buffet or going out to find a restaurant a difficult one. All in all not a terrible hotel but when compared to the excellent standard of service experienced throughout the rest of costa rica this stay stood out as a let down and as a result we wouldn't go back.

Spa and Yoga near by the volcan Poas

Pros: Only the massages were very good
Cons: Its better to go to La Fortuna near the volcano Arenal, they are porfessionals.
Location: you can visit the volcano Poas
we wanted to do Yoga.It was a reason to go in this hotel. there have been no Yoga class, because there have been only 5 persons in the hotel. They didn't inform us before. For sunday we had 2 reservations for a facial treatment. Nobody show up and at the reception desk they told us, they had forgotten our reservation. Our room wasn"t clean up. I called them 3 times before the weekend to be sure, that all our reservations are o.k. We payed more than 500 US $ and had only two massages on saturday. It was my birthday present!!! Horrible experience, never again!!!!

A Disappointment

The service was terribly lacking here. Not only was the management disinterested, but we were charged for a dinner that was not ordered or eaten. When I emailed and complained about their service, I received no reply. There is little lighting between paths here: bring your own flashlight. There is not the view from your cabin pictured, unless you want to stand and see it. Fix your own plumbing. The management was actually rude here. The resort does not show on GPS, so make sure you use a red taxi from airport, and clear with them that they know where they are going. Even google map isn't helpful. No interior parking, so if you're driving, I'd suggest another property, as you'll have to leave your rental car outside the locked, gated property. Also, don't arrange an early morning tour form here: no lights, no help from management, locked gates.

Calming retreat!

We stayed for only one night (sadly) but the one night was very memorable! We were greeted by fresh juice and ice cold towels to wash up. Service was prompt, friendly and all around amazing! The grounds are stunning and the views breathtaking. We loved the food! We were able to enjoy three healthy flavourful meals, lounge by the pool and walk the grounds. I also must say that my sleep was the deepest, longest sleep I had in a while. The setting is serene, the air fresh and it's quiet! The hotel was also able to accommodate our request for a late check-out (this may not always be possible, in our case our room wasn't booked the day of our departure). We loved our stay and would recommend this hotel to all our friends! The only possible downside is that the yoga options are extremely limited. I would expect more class options from a yoga retreat. There were only two classes a day and none on Wednesdays. This was a bit disappointing. The only other word of caution I would give is to make sure your taxi driver knows where this hotel is located. Ours brought us to another similarly named hotel and we winded up driving around for 45 minutes looking for this place. If you're looking for a quiet & beautiful retreat, look no further! You won't be disappointed.

Great Place with Friendly Staff.

Everything was great with the Pure Vida Spa and Yoga Retreat. The one big problem is that if a person goes on their website it says all meals are included. But, if you book through EXPEDIA the meals are not included and you will receive a whooping extra charge per meal eaten there. Be ready to pay more than expected. The view is great and there is a very nice coffee field right across from the property which made for a very senic run and walk.
