Solo travelers beware & very loud club downstairsPosted Nov 4, 2013
Pros: Javier, the bellman, was the only high point of this stay. He was cordial, professional, and service oriented.
Cons: Staff attitude and professionalism.
Location: The restaurant is located about 3/4 of a mile from the heart of San Jose. There are theaters, cinemas, shopping, and nightlife.
This is not a hotel to go to if you want to be treated as a valued guest. It is also not a place to go if you expect to get a good nights sleep. As a solo female traveler, my key card was deactivated on a daily basis during the 8 nights that I was there. When I approached the guest services associate, they would interrogate me as to how many people were in my room and then would act indifferent as they reset my key card so that I could gain access to my room. No one at this hotel acknowledged or greeted me and they had cavalier, whatever, attitudes when I complained about the problem with the key card. I asked to speak to the hotel manager and was given the run around and was not able to see him. Apparently there is some type of dance club downstairs and the booming music can be heard all the way to the 9th floor. There are constant horns blaring day and night, people using whistles, loud music, and people yelling. I saw one cockroach in the room near the coffee maker and did not dare to use any of the dishes provided. There was also a feint smell of mold in the carpeting. When taking a shower, I would get sudden bursts of scalding hot water and then sudden bursts of ice cold water. Overall, I was mostly dissapointed with the facilities, but I was downright livid with the staff and the lack of professionalism.

Very good hotel downtown San JosePosted Oct 29, 2013
Pros: Hospitable service in the restaurant
Cons: Access to outdoors
Location: National Museum close by, close to downtown bus stop as well
Overall a more than acceptable hotel, nice shower and bathroom facilities. Balconies closed off on 9th floor. Cleanliness was fine. Food was average.

Very good hotel in the cityPosted Sep 30, 2013
It's a great hotel, nice modern rooms. Very clean. Great service. Location is good if you want to be mid way between San Jose down town and the Escazu area. There is also a free parking for guests. For the price, probably the best hotel in the area.

Too much noisePosted Aug 26, 2013
Pros: Food was good
It was difficult to sleep with the noise coming from the club in the lower part of the building, and the room was smaller than any hotel I've stayed in Costa Rica, even for the same or lower prices.
